Harps game.

Fair play to those who travelled, I'd say there was anything up to about 50 of us there, hard to tell, as we were a bit spread out. City played well, apart from last 20 mins, when under unbelieveable pressure. Harps looked very good for a div1 side, especially Paddy McGrenaghan (no.8). Conditions not the best for a game, but both teams tried to play some nice football. City players in general good, I thought Billy Woods stood out as the best of the lot (along with Georgie) and was unlucky not to get the winner. Jonh O'Flynn fairly quiet as he didn't get much of the ball, and was very well policed by harps defence. Colin O'Brien had a fairly poor game IMO, as did Reynolds. Jimmy Mull (as usual) was full of running when he came on, but long ball to him DOES NOT WORK! Devine put in another superb display,and Gaz made a few very timely tackles. Overall, I'd say it was a good battling performance, but we really lacked direction, particularly towards then end.

and, dare I say it, I thought the ref had a pretty goodgame in general. One or two dodgy decisions, but a fairly competent display overall. Linesman on the far side seemed to have it in his head that every hoof forward was automatically offside- even if a lot of them were- and managed to infuriate everyone in the ground at one stage or another.

I honestly dont see how Colin T can command a regular spot on the team, IMO he has been very very poor, especially the Bohs game, I thought Warren was doing quite well on the right.

Also can anyone tell me if Hoggie was dropped or was he injuried?

According to the papers he was an injury doubt, so i guess that's what it was. i heard he didn't even travel, but I dunno whether thats true or not.

Yeah, well done lads (and Lassies?...

), thats a whore of a journey all right.
So Gunther still hasn't got past page one of the UEFA coaching manual yet?
You would have to give him credit for the signings he has made over the close season, and playing some great stuff at home, but as has been mentioned on other threads, this laying back and inviting the opposition to try and break us down is a disaster.
The squad is there now to have lots of tactical switches and variations, so Gunther standing by and just watching proceedings is not an option.
I have to agree with Eanna (

) that the season could become a season of missed opportunities if Gunther does not encourage the team to attack more and lose the fear...

Irish football marks the anniversary of the September 11th tragedy in the USA by holding a minute's silence before all senior matches this week - starting with tomorrow's FAI Carlsberg Cup quarter final replay between Cork City and Finn Harps and ending with the Eircom Premier League ties on Friday including games at St Patricks Athletic, Shelbourne and Bray. Cross channel, 10 Premiership matches plus a clutch of Worthington Cup games will also suitably commemorate the disaster.

Surprising the GAA didnt do anything yesterday, or did they that I missed?

minutes silence? For crying out loud. Can we just get on with the game please? Why did we not have any minutes silence for all of the horrible atrocities in the north, or for all the Palestinians murdered by the American puppet Sharon, or for all those innocents killed by Americans in Afghanistan.

Ah,finally. First one, and then you shall all know the truth HA HA HA

Seriously though, my dislike of the man aside, it really is very worrying how much we change our game plan. And it's not as if it's because of the home fans helping the opposition- the city support away to Bohs and Monaghan easily drowned out the home fans, and at Haprs we were pretty vocal too.
