Saw Michael Franti at Electric Picnic, he was excellent. Hope to get to Primal scream myself, trying to persuade a few of my mates to go

I rem seeing Disposable Heroes of Hipocrasy many moons ago and then saw Franti & Spearhead at REM in Slane & thats when I really became a fan of his....what a man! His music is class and he is one of my heroes now.

Would love to meet Dr there but problem is I will need to be seated coz of my gammy leg & am sure he will be down dancing like I wanna be!!

Think I may have convinced my brother & his wife to go but when told them I would have to be seated (and all standing tickets are sold) they are not totally convinced!

Saw Spearhead at Slane that time too.

Might go to Ghost face killa this Friday.

Public Enemy, Souls of Mischief and Arrested Developement all coming up but unfortunately I'll be out of the country for AD. Hope to make the other two though.

Then I've got Weller in November.

Dont mention the modfather to me boy!

When are Arrested Development playing?? I loved them. My bro is a dj and he has been mixing Mr Wendle through some of his stuff lately and got me back into the mood for them.

One down, five to go. The Congos gig last night was an absolute corker. Started off with the group not so much coming on stage, but mounting a stage invasion - apart from a six-piece band and an MC, there was four singers, all oul-fella rastas aged 60+ with dreads and white beards, looked like Jamaica's answer to the Smurfs. Started around 9:15, finished their encore at 11:25 and were off stage for about 5 minutes out of that. Gorgeous harmonies, smatterings of dub excursions, wonderful energy and two hours' worth of dancing. What more could you ask for?

Jaysus, you must have lost touch a long while ago then!

Was in the Beatnigs, a name I remember from my first days of reading Melody Maker (dunno, about 1987?), Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy, brilliant rock/hiphop outfit from that golden age of the early 90s, and he's with Spearhead for the last ten years at least. Not a mad fan meself but he's a talented f*cker, no doubt.

Well as for the remaining 6 acts on Dr. Nightdub's list I know four of them.
Paul Buchanan is billing himself as a solo act cause one of the Blue Nile guys didn't fancy touring this year. So it will be all Blue Nile stuff anyway.

Primal Scream were superb on Sat, most coherent I've seen them since Xmas 2000 at the Point (and also the most coherent I've been at a Scream gig since then).

Good mix of material, mainly from "Vanishing Point" onwards. Two encores, including a cover of the Velvet Underground's "What Goes On", which completely made my night cos I've thought for years it'd be good song for them to cover. They didn't quite get around to covering the Jackson 5's "Want You Back" even though Mani tried sneaking the bass riff in a couple of times.

Magicme, did you go in the end? We could only get tickets for the very upstairs but that didn't stop us dancing. Couldn't believe the couple next to us though, they hardly moved except to go to the bar. Some people shouldn't be let go to gigs.
