NICE ONE! Now praying for a home draw - no team will want to travel to the Cross for a Cup semi. Alternatively could be a great away trip. First game back - can't wait

One of the worst games I have ever witnessed in the Cross and by God I've seen some crap over the years.

They were marginally worse than us overall though they created as much as we did.

Mulconry was brutal and it was a crazy decision to ever try and slot him in left back, he can't play there.

Woods was non existent, hiding as he does, George tried too much fancy stuff on a night not suited to it.

I thought Carey, Cronin, Greg and Reynolds were our best players.

Murphy will claim master stroke with the substitution and then the goal but I thought he left it a bit too late and should have made the change at half time.

We are a fine weather team, I hope it clears up for Friday night

    Thumbs down yeah, i agree

crap match. a lot of terrible performances and the football wae dire. two nice goals though.

judging the first division by finn harps there is some gap in standards between the first and premier divisions.

Lads, were ye at the same match I was at?? Even though the conditions were dire, City at ALL times tried to play football, tried to pass the ball, and had some excellent moves. Hardly any hoofball or head tennis. It wasn't the best game ever, but it wasn't the worst. Mucky was bad, George was asleep but to say that Billy was non-existent means you must have been blinded by the rain. City had about 90% possession, and while there was a bit of over-elaboration on the ball, they were always looking for the opening.
Someone was complaining about negativity the other day, but this lads, I have to say, is moaning for the sake of moaning.
So not only must we win all our games, we must play like Brazil 1970 as well ?
Some good football, some bad football, great crowd, money in the bank and last four in the cup.
F*ck's sake lads, look on the bright side......

Billy is used to having a solid left back behind him.
This didn't happen last night and there were times in the first half where he was drifting infield with no interest in the ball.

I agree that we won and we can't be brilliant all the time and to be honest i'd have taken 1-0 last night but if we can't beat a lower first division team convincingly at home what chance do we have against the top teams.

Give it a brek man by all accounts it was swamp like down there. after all it's cup football it doesn't matter how you win once you win. winning is the bottom line, we won harps didn't.

roll on the cup. save the analysis for the league games

Bohs 1- 1 City, 2 mins away from getting all 3 points in Dalymount ???
    City 3 - 0 Shelbourne ??
    City 3 - 1 Derry ????
Seems to me we have a decent chance......

All that matters is that we're in the cup semis. Conditions did not help the players. 2 great goals and we dominated the game. Roll on Friday night and lets hope it'll be drier.

Shels and Derry are mid table mediocrity.
    We were haunted against Bohs.

I don't know maybe i'm being over critical in my old age.
But I do think we are good enough to merit a trophy this season.

With a home draw in the semis i'd fancy us to take any of the other 3 teams left.

So were Bohs. We could just as easily have won 3 - 0 there. Devine made great saves, which is what goalies are there for, Colin and J'OF missed chances, they were not saved.

Yep, I'd have to agree with you there......

Bohs, Pats and ourselves would quite clearly stand out as the "top" teams this season so far.

Fine but Bohs created and missed far more chances than we did. We retreated into defence and let them come at us.
Though I suppose a point was ok in the end.

Fair Enough but thats what spending the last 15 years going to the Cross has done for me.

jesus sake i know we are poor away but given the rubbish of last year this season so far has been a huge improvement on and off the field.

there is a long way to go yet in the season and losing in the semi's or getting exposed away from could kill us but cmom some of the footie has been super in particular the goals and rate of goals we are scoring.

don't be a miserable old bugger. enjoy it while it lasts. football is rarely perfect but some of the stuff at the cross has been pretty close.

    Exclamation Sign him up!

Only saw the highlights on tv (kinda wet looking) but John O'Flynns header was class & shows he a lot more to his game just pace & finishing - camera angle suggested ball came in behind him & he did very well to loop over the keeper.

Skippy & Johhny C were legends but more like goal poachers - John O'Flynns the most complete forward i've seen play for city in 12-13 years! Lennox should ouble his wages & add a couple of years to his contract!

Imagine how much in pure monetary value O'Flynn has been worth to city already this season!

i saw flynn's goal and in terms of technique it was excellant. all his goals are generally marked by technicial (sic) ablity of the highest standard -his first goal against shels, the header last night, the goals against bohs where he showed great pace etc etc have all highlighted different facets of great centre forward play. also he has great temperment, pace, skill, speed, heading ablity etc. brian should give the guy whatever he wants and gunther should get a regular strike partner for him

glen crowe can't even touch this guy for talent.

dont know what game some of u were at but in my opinion taking all the conditions into account it wasnt a bad game two good goals and no hoofing consider that to some of the rubbish we were treated to over the last few years i find it hard to see why some people describe it as one of the worst games they have seen for a while in the cross

simple really it is because they go to a couple games every couple of years. often hear it from "regular" city "fans" who live in cork yet who when slagging off the team admit they went to a one game ayear (if at all)
