Irish Ambassador invite for Derry
Derry City have been granted a civic reception by the Irish Ambassador to France ahead of Thursday's Uefa Cup tie against Paris Saint Germain. Club chief executive Jim Roddy said the news was a "fantastic honour". "We are proud to represent our city of Derry, the Eircom League and the FAI in this competition," said Mr Roddy.
"This is the first time Derry City FC has been honoured in this way and it just goes to show how much Irish football has progressed." The Irish Ambassador to France, Anne Anderson, will host the civic reception and among those in attendance will be the Mayor of Derry, Helen Quigley and the MP for Foyle and SDLP leader Mark Durkan.
