Pardon the pun but a game very much of two sides. First half we looked solid and went in front through Tommy B when he ran onto a great pass and finished under Brendan Kennedy in the Kildare goal. We had a few other half chances and were unlucky not to go in at half time further ahead. The second half was a joke. Lester (who was the only midfielder working last night) was booked early so they took him off. I would have left him on, but two players most clearly could do with some time on the bench. And no for once I’m not talking Sinnott (who had a fine game at right wing back) or Waters. Heff and Cooney never got on the ball last night and in effect we played the second half with only 9 men. The subs (Kelleher for Lester and Guiren for Carthy) only made matters worse as the ball was constantly being run back at our defence, as there were now no mid-field. We (the fans) won a penalty but who the hell let Waters take it. Not as poor as Sinnotts a few weeks ago but very much “keeper friendly”. For the last 10 mins we could have conceded up to and above 12 goals I **** you not. Kildare hit the post twice, balls cleared off the line and for his heroics in the last few mins, Austin O’Neill gets man of the match for a string of fine saves. In short we were lucky to get out of this game with a draw. Finny a left footer playing at the right side of defence is just clueless, and paddy needs to swap with him now. Cooney and Heff to the bench and bring in some biters in midfield (Lester and Miller) we need a manager as the team looked rudderless. If Tommy Lynch is on the bench let him be the manager for the remainder of the season until we get one in on a permanent basis.
Team: O’Neill, Finnucane, Purcell, Buckley, Sinnott, Waters, Cooney, Lester (Kelleher) Heffernan, Barrett, McCarthy (Guiran). Subs: O’Boyle, Miller, Bourke.
My team for Galway game: O’Neill, Purcell, Finnucane, Buckley, Sinnott, Waters, Lester, Miller, Barrett, Kelleher, and Carthy.
