Aren't we supposed to be getting an U-21 game in the Cross early in the year?
Something in the back of my mind tells me it is the Swiss match.

It would certainly be good for the game if JO'F was playing - remember the reception Gamble got last season.

Are you sure about that? Because the under 21 game against Holland last year was at the RSC, so i would have thought it was someone elses turn in the rotation. Wherever its on hopefully it won't be in Dublin at least, since I think even the FAI have realised that it made no sense to stage games in front of 200 people at Tolka Park when the rest of the country is only too glad of the opportunity to see these kind of games.

Nice one, he deserves it. My only fear is that this may mean he gets too much attention from across the water.

    Question

I presume this news came directly from the club as those squads not usually anounced 4 weeks in advance plus I haven't seen it announced officially anywhere else...?

Btw that games on the 15th of October too so maybe the news a bit premature?

Its good news for John O'Flynn but not good for City in the long term. In the short term him playing for the u21's will benefit City but in the long term it wont because as Eanna said he is going to get a lot more attention from across the water.

btw, why is Citynet the only place with this story?

Did this story just come from the Echo, where they said they "expected" John to be called up ??

To answer that question .... It is BAD news !!
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
