Well it would be a good idea to tell them as tickets will not be on sale at the grounds on matchday according to www.galwayunitedfc.ie

I hope it is our game coz have a Hen weekend in Mayo starting the friday nite and would hate to miss the match. A midweek fixture suits me as mcuh as a weekend one.

A point dlk/gal/rovs fans all seem to be agreeing on is the improved standard this season, i`d also go with the improved atendances too in the first div, we`ve been getting avg 1,500 per home game for last 3 mths, with about 3,500 (max) for rovers game last week. The galway v rovs game next weekend should be the biggest yet in the division, 4 or 5,000 ?

Jc maybe our result was the best of the weekend, but i still thought your score was the most impressive esp after 1-0 down, I see you have to visit Donegal in a few weeks time, always tricky, so have we but not til last game of season, harps will hopefully be going through the motions then.

And Rovers fans, what is it about those late goals, you did same to us in Tolka on day 1, equalised in 80th min and got winner in 92th, then in oriel last week, an equaliser with 7 mins to go, then again that was well deserved.

not to mention cobh, athlone etc etc

Whoever wins this will divison will do so by a point, maybe 2, def no more than that. Well unless one or two of the 3 collapses, and that seems very unlikely at the minute.

3 very good sides, all more than capable of winning the title.
Last minute winners have come because we are the fittest team in the league. We have been done numerous times in the past with not concentrating in the last few minutes. Play to the final whistle.

Conor H the point we're making is that if the game was saturday night it makes it easier for away fans to travel. Same in reverse. I've always said that only derbies should be played on fridays. But as you say friday night is now ingrained in Galway and its a **** lot better than playing on stupid thursdays anyway.

The increased crowds in the division is down to the fact that we're in it.

No saturdays are a dreadful nite to have them. It means you cant go anywhere with your kids/family without having to hurry back and most parties etc are on sat nites so I know I would find it harder to fit football in on a sat nite. Also too many people hit the pub to watch Premiership games and would be unlikely to leave their stools to go to a match. Fridays are the best day.

nope, i disagree. fridays work much better in galway - ya, i hear what your saying, more away fans on a sat night but galway for example get way more fans on friday night, if it was up to me, id have all the games on friday night in both divisions and then you could have a decent tv/radio show to cover them all, similar to soccer saturday on sky

    1) I'd imagine the increase in crowds compared to other years is down both t the fact we're in it and none of the Dublin area's ugly sisters (Farm Bray UCD) are. Actually throw in the fact that the Dundah and Gaaalway have decent supports and are going well too.

2)Used to dislike Friday's but they seem to work better now. Especially with the summer football. The rule that allows Thursday's should be changed. Last day of season should always be a Sunday to allow fans to travel to deciders etc

3)We're unlikely to sell out our allocation in Galway possibly due to fatigue with it being the third away game in a week.

    4) Aren't Connacht at home to Ulster on Friday. Would be nice for a First Div game to get a bigger crowd on the same night in the same city.
EL grounds are like good episodes of The Simpsons, no matter how many times you see them they're still funny

Yeah. Last week, Connacht Rugby had 3,200 at their game. Terryland will def have a bigger crowd that the rugger and I'd bet that they will only get half of that on Friday. Connacht games KO at 6.30pm to facilitate the greyhounds at the same venue at 8pm. It's a pity that they changed from Sat to Friday.

...or the fact it's on Friday night. We would easily sell out our allocation if it was on a real football night, like Saturday night.

Having everyone play simultaneously on Saturday nights, would bring order and discipline to the fixtures, marketing potential, and bigger crowds. No "Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights suits us" excuses. It's hard to market a league when all the games are played at wonky ko times on different nights.

Our away support has considerably increased when we've gone to Cobh, Harps, and Athlone, and later on, Kilkenny on Saturdays. Do that for 22 clubs, market the night in the local/national media every week, and see the league flourish, where everyone benefits.

That's too easy to do for some people however.

1:3......Fair enough, I think it will be close, but if we do win then I think that you are finished for another year.

not a notion, the league will go down to the final week with all of the top 3 still in contention. Anyway, Dundalk will win the match, they do afterall have a great away record this year.

The table will look false until our games in hand have been played, and until the points deduction is overturned.

Fu**ing hell - would you give it a rest with the games in hand! WE KNOW!

I'd predict this weekend's results to be:

    Monaghan 2 Limerick 0
    United 1 Rovers 0
    Athlone 2 Cobh 1
    Kildare 1 Dundalk 3
Kilkenny 0 Finn Harps x, where x>0 and probably in the region of 4

If these results happen you can come on here and tell us that with you games in hand you'd be level with Dundalk and Galway, forgetting the fact that you still have to win them, unlike your game in hand you had at home against Limerick.

    ...which finally is on Monday.

With our formidable home record, we should win at least two, if not the three of the games in hand. If Galway had played the same amount of games as us, and the FAI not played the Santa in August, we would be almost out of sight by now.

What 6 points ahead?! And you're playing us tomorrow!

I believe we're doing a deal that if under 12s come with ticket holding adults they get in free tomorrow.

Sounds like it's your lucky day!

Why do you keep blaming the FAI?
I wonder if Rovers maybe, just maybe, didn't play a suspended player would they have been deducted 3 points? No.
Get over it yere down 3 points ye have 50 points-not 56.It's whats points on the scoreboard that counts.
