have to agree theres a few more from Balla who should have been playing and eddie hickeys a strange choice.

james o donnell from summerville is a fine left full (if thats the fella Im thinking of) and as was said on the premier league good left fulls are few and far between.

having said that theres players from 10 clubs there which makes a change from last year when it could have been called the balla-carew XI

The squad is a disgrace, when ive seen Balla both Quinn and Earls have been outstanding, ive seen the boro beat pike, regional and A/A but these teams have more players than boro,Sheehan from regional should have been a cert, Clunes from A/A is very average.Hanley from the boro has been excellent.

very average squad to be honest o connell from corbally just out of minors ahead of earls from balla..... a lot more unusual selections especially the goalkeeper hickey.... a host of prem keepers much better along with at least one in 1a morgan lewis.......only 1 balla player a disgrace........could it be the case that a few of players who should of been selected refused to play under mullaly.....

Brian O'Doherty & Paul Lyons of Star both played for last season's OT team.
Just said I'd get that in.

Eddie Hickey and Pa Mul are great pals, no surprise in his selection.

Hickey is a clever choice, gordon will be number 1 so i dont think the likes of collopy and noonan would travel to be a sub, hickey been a mate of pa's will glady help out.judge for caherdavin scored 4 goals afew weeks ago in a game, who was marking him, james o donnell defo not good enough for it

Players that should have been included IMO.
    Nunan (Carew)
    Collopy (Star)
    Quinn (Balla)
    Earls (Balla)
    Ken Mc (Balla)
    G Ryan (Balla)
    Daly (Balla)
    Tynan (Granville)
    Hanley (Boro)
    Slattery (Carew)
    Sheehan (Regional)
    Sheehan (A/A)
    Whelan (Carew)
    O'Connell (Balla)

    To name just a few

James O'Donnell is an excellent left back. Boro and Pike were after him again during the summer. He's been one of the best (if not the best) left fulls in limerick junior soccer for the past 4 years and definitely deserves his place in that squad. Just cos he might have had one bad game doesnt make him a poor player.

I dont believe any star players are good enough to be on the squad anyway. the squad seems fair enough to me although there should be another couple of balla players there especially enright

maybe a few players were asked and said they werent interested, thats the only reason i can think of for some of the bigger names missing.

hickey, purcell and white must be a hundred between them. looking at them youd be wondering why he didnt pick gaga and ask jimmy sheehan to dust off his boots

What about Dobber Lipper, doesnt he play with Pike B as well, he should give him a shout as well and play him up front with Jimmy Sheehan, with Purcell and Gaga behind them in the MF, Declan Casey at left full, Seanie Lipper at right full, White and Hannon CB''s and Hickey in Goal.

Thats what I was thinking. Maybe Pa Mul spoke to a lot of the players and asked if they would be available to him. Anyone that didnt give him 100% commitment were probably left out of the squad.

    Juat a theory.

Can you tell me the last Oscar Traynor panel selected that met everyones approval?
I go to games regularly and Pat Mullally has been around to see most clubs i would say.
I don't agree with some of those selected but I don't have the balls to take the job so good luck to the manager.
As for some of the comment!!! Remember these are amatuer players we are talking about. Jason Purcell is still the best player in Limerick by a fair distance(imo)
I'm just glad the selection is spread over such a large number of clubs. It might generate local support more than last season.

    So Many Managers!!!

Well judging by the number of opinions posted there are a few who would think they could manage the team. Just a few tiny points to remember when posting about squad selections,
It takes more than skill to be a good player and in a team where you do not have the oppertunity to mesh over a long period some players may not have what it takes to be part of such a team. There are also a lot of clubs represented in the "initial" squad and when the trial game is over I am sure there may be a few changes. The trial squad has now been posted on the website any players listed should have their clubs contact the secretary as soon as possible.
Look forward to seeing you all at the trials games and the OT games.

Now lets give the management a fair chance to settle in

I agree old keeper and well said, but this been a forum, its about opinions, no ones having a go at Pat Mullaly, its just that everyone wants to see the strongest team on the field to give the league its best chance of winning
