McGeady was excellent when he came on. Nakamura set up the 2 goals as usual.

I'm lovin' that intro music. Think its gas that the Japanese commentators can pronounce O'Dea correctly while The Sky Sports fellas take their usual unorthodox approach to Irish pronunciations a la Key-O or Kay-Hill.... "Darren O'Day opened the scoring for Celtic"

I noticed Conor McNamara pronounces Cahill Kay-Hill since he acquired his English accent on Radio 5 Live.

over the festive period leicester player cardiff, hull, southampton and sunderland, collecting 4 points. no irish on the score sheets and McCarthy having to wait untill the most recent game to get his starting spot back after his suspension.Logan is on the bench at present but has done enough in his 15 starts to earn a contract extension untill 2010 at the club.Maybury continuies to appear regularly although not a guaranteed pick at present when all are fit.

    Logans contract extension here:http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page...~30430,00.html

for sunderland the other day, Elliot played wide right and caused some real problems early on with his trickery movement and decent crossing, Connolly sealed the win for his side late on and Miller also impressed me with his passing in particular, but the leicester midfield didnt exactly cover themselves in glory on the day in their efforts to stop him.

as for Keanes side in general, they were tigerish when they wernt in posession but more stylish and creative while in posession then you generally see at this level, nice movement and comfortably able to keep it high up the park with the irish lads more than playing their part.

Joe O’Cearuill (Arsenal) has gone on loan to Brighton. Saw him in the B international and he looked decent.

Is the B international cap enough to tie him to us permanently, he can't change his mind now and play for England?

Stephen Kelly suffered a thigh injury against Newcastle, according to the Independent it's a torn muscle, but there's nothing official on the Birmingham website yet.

Isn't he more often than not employed in Celtic reserves as a striker or have I got me wires crossed?

could be thinking of Diarmuid O'Carroll, or Cillian Sheridan. O'Brien has played as a striker, but usually does play on the wing, or behind the front two

    RIGHT MIDFIELD
Kenny McDowall's constant positional switches have at times seen four different players filling this slot in the course of one game. However, the most common starters here have been Nicky Riley, who has added a yard more pace to his tricky footwork, and the extremely talented Michael McGlinchey. But both players still have a bit of bulking out to do before they can compete at the top level. Perhaps the best bet to step up in this position would be Jim O'Brien, who is strong, direct and pacy. At Youths level Kevin Cawley, Mark Miller and Paul Cahillane have played in this position, with the older Miller looking the most at home. But the others - both 17 - have bags of talent and promise.

    STRIKER
The big Bhoys are here! With Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink now a permanent feature of the first team, the Reserves and Youths now boast their own giants in the shape of Icelander Kjartan Finnbogason and Irish colossus Cillian Sheridan. Kjartan missed 18 months through injury and may take time to get fully up to speed. Hopefully he can keep his head up and take out his frustration on opposition defenders. Cillian has scored plenty of goals but at present is a long way short of first team standard in terms of fitness, technique and tactical awareness. But he COULD be a prospect within 18 months. Jim O'Brien has played a lot up front for the Reserves, as have Rocco Quinn, Nicky Riley and Michael McGlinchey. But the best display of finishing this season came from Derek Riordan. And don't forget Michael Gardyne is doing well on loan at Ross County while 18-year-old Paul McGowan is a player of the season contender at Morton. I predict big things for Wee Gowser. For the Youths, Paul Cahillane and Kevin Cawley have taken turns partnering Cillian. Both are very clever players but neither has - as yet - shown signs of being a clinical finisher.
Plenty more reading in that link for those who are interested

Paul Heffernan was League 1 player of the month for December.

Jason Koumas won Championship player of the month, for which Glen Whelan was shortlisted.
Dimitrios Konstantopoulos (who must be worth a fortune in Scrabble!!) won League 2 player of the month, for which Jonathon Walters was also shortlisted

Skysports.com understands Southend and Hull are chasing Motherwell striker Richie Foran.

Foran is weighing up his future at Motherwell with his current contract due to expire in the summer.

The news has alerted a number of clubs who are considering making moves for the Irishman.

Southend and Hull are both in the market for a new striker as they look to bring in a goalscorer to aid their survival bids in the Championship.

Foran's representative Clive Hart admitted several sides were keeping tabs on Foran's situation.

"There are one or two clubs who are having a look at Richie," Hart told skysports.com.

"His contract is up in the summer and he is weighing up his future.

"Motherwell have suggested they would like to talk over a new deal, but nothing has happened so far.

"Richie is not rushing into anything and he is keeping his options open."

Motherwell are loath to lose the talented forward but they could decide to cash in on Foran this month rather than risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.
