St. Pat’s hopes of moving into second place in the Eircom Premier Division were shattered by the Candystripes who are starting to show championship form.

Pats went to the Brandywell expecting a tough game but equally expecting to take full points but Derry are resurgent and made the most of it to take all three points.

The home crowd were enthralled by their favourites play and on 35 minutes David Kelly fired them ahead.

Ger McCarthy came closest to scoring for the visitors when his shot cannoned off a post but it was not to be for the Dubliners who’s long trip home was made worse by a second Derry goal from Ciaran Martyn one minute into added time.
