Finn Harps have been handed a home draw in the Quarter-Finals of the FAI Cup against high-flying Premier Division side Cork City. In 1999 on their way to the Cup Final, Harps defeated the Leesiders 1-0 in a Finn Park replay with Donal O'Brien scoring the winner after a 0-0 draw at Turner's Cross. That night, over 3,000 supporters witnessed the feat and Harps officials are hoping for a similar crowd again this time.
It will prove to be a 'Super Saturday' on 7th September for supporters of Harps and the International side. At 4.00pm, Mick McCarthy's Irish side face Russia in Moscow in the first of the Euro 2004 qualifying games, while at 8.00pm at Finn Park, Jonathan Speaks' Harps side face Cork City in that mouthwatering FAI Cup Quarter-Final.
