Derry City midfielder Kevin Deery was the “Player of the Month” for August in the eircom National League. He was the overwhelming choice of the members of the Soccer Writers Association of Ireland.
Deery, who is 21, played an integral part in the Derry City's terrific month in which they remained unbeaten and continued their progress in the eircom National League, FAI Carlsberg Cup and the UEFA Cup.
He was also a key figure in the Irish under 21 side that enjoyed a 2-0 win over Greece in Athens in the UEFA Championship qualifying match.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
