Scored two goals today in Readings 3-0 win against Northampton
West Ham have entered the race to sign Reading striker Shane Long and have made a £8m bid for the Republic of Ireland international, the Guardian reports.
altho they a big team and assembling a good squad it is not a move forward for long, he needs to be in the premiership

first bid rejected
west ham will offer more
Can't see Reading being happy to sell him to a promotion rival.
Hammers sticking with it http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2...st-ham-reading
Reading: No serious Long bid
"With every player there comes a point, but we are nowhere near that point yet." - Sounds like a line from 'Shane Long: The Movie'
Mentions interest from Liverpool too but someone at SkySports probably threw a dart at the premier league table.

West Ham is a step down, they'll be languishing in the championship for a while I'd say
With Christo here.
Come on Bayern, save us.
Him, Doyle and McGeady would be exactly the sort of players that would flourish in Germany.
The drama and the saga continue.

Yesterday Leicester, today it seems Long is going to WBA for 7m. Rumours from The Daily Mirror. I hope all this talk ends soon as it has to be very unsettling for Long.
From F365 today...
Reading manager Heston Blumenthal has been discussing the future of Shane Long.
"I said in the week on the radio that we had had no interest from the Premier League, but that is not strictly the case," Blumenthal told getreading.com.
"We have had plenty of interest from the Premier League, but we have had no offer as yet. There has obviously been interest in the Championship from West Ham and Leicester too.
"What I expect, which generally happens, is that someone will make an offer and then you will get five or six Premier League clubs making bids.
"Hopefully they won't leave it too late if they want to do that."
