I found it difficult as well having to travel around 200 miles round trip.To travel from Dublin must be extremely tiring.
I also understand that St Pats were asked to play on Tuesday 5th but refused.
It's very hard on away fans or on home fans who have to travel any distance. It means taking at least half a day off work and getting back home in the early hours of the following morning.I believe there is no need to set these matches for mid-week.Whats the great hurry ? The season will be over soon enough.
Just to clrify, Pats weren' asked to play on Tuesdays. Cork asked the league and the league sid no

Maybe they couldn't find a Dublin referee to do the match. I can't wait for the day City go to Dublin and get a Cork referee. It's a pity they couldn't get another Dublin Linesman last night Foley was awful as usual.I pity any team that has to put up with him every week. He’s an embarrassment.
Has City ever had so many shots on target, and still failed to score? When those trolls booed the team briefly from the season ticket area I saw Billy Woods shake his head in apparent disbelief. If there was any justice last night, we would have scored three goals after excellent build ups. Even in the extra time last night City launched two decent attacks on the Pats goal, both of which were quality moves. It sickens me to hear people booing, even when the team has played below its ability. To be fair to the lads last night, they played out of their skins. To the people who booed, why don't ye stay at home and let decent supporters applaud the team off the pitch when they need and deserve us to be behind them, and not be on top of them!
And as for the refereeing last night, it was embarrassing. Damien Hancock had his worst game in years at the Cross, IMO. Many of his decisions left players from both teams looking bemused.

Less than 5 shots on target for Cork. Loads wide but Ryan didn't have much to do. Name major decisionHancock got wrong (except for only booking Softiuc for elbowing)
get over yourselves, you were cack

Well we have Anders Kelly or Buttimer, with those 2 i'd take my chances with a Dublin ref to be honest.
Gambles yellow was for a shoulder, thought that was allowed in the game. Every 50-50 challenge resulted in a free kick to Pats. S'pose he got the front seat on the bus home.

I was in the St Annes end for the whole game, second half Dodge ... there was alot of chances, plus five ..... most defintely. Sorry fella but thats the way it is.
I will fully admit we weren't on fire or anything, far from what we have played in the recent past, but Dodge, how many saves did Barry have to make? Come on now fella.

Loads of chances but all wide or over or blacked. Did O'Donovan or Fenn hit the target at all?

That was not the problem. Every ref makes mistakes. The performance that Hancock turned in last Monday night at Turners Cross was bad for two reasons IMO.
First, he did not let the game flow. He managed to frustrate and annoy fans and players alike by making both teams re-take frees that he could have let play on. He blew everything, it seems to me. He did not allowing play to develop, to see if there was an advantage to the right team in letting play go on. It is a bad referee who blows the whistle at every incident he sees. Hancock often allows play to move more freely. He was awful on Monday.
Second, he seemed to want to dominate the game. A good ref is the least noticeable person on the field of play. I don't know if the man has an over-sized ego or what is the matter with him. I think he ruined the game by making both sides annoyed by his over-bearing attitude to players. An example is the incident where two players ran and rose to nod the ball. They missed the ball completely and passed each other in mid-air. For some reason Hancock saw fit to give out to the two of them. What is that about?Read my post. It does not blame Hancock for the result. Pats earned their point IMO.Originally Posted by joema
