The best bands are the old punk bands like The Clash and my brudders the Ramones and English sixties bands like the Beatles, The Who and The Kinks.

These days I find I've given up entirely on the honkies of today and have taken refuge in the classic reggae of the 70s, which probably qualifies as "old" to most of you: U Roy, Culture, Sly & Robbie, King Tubby, Lee Scratch Perry, Augustus Pablo, Dennis Brown, even the odd spot of Prince Far I if I'm feeling particularly apocalyptic. White mon cyaan dance.

I don't really know what constitutes an old band - is it a band made up of old people or a band that were around years ago.

Presuming its the later I'll go with the Stones. If its the former there's a great jazz band here in Galway made up of old men and they get the nod.

Wouldnt' the stones fit either one of those criteria?

A lot of Motown and Stax artists. 60's Ska. Captain Beefheart. The Fall have been around the block. KraftWerk. Marvin Gaye.
What exactly is the criteria? The Specials were a '70s band. Are Pulp an old band? It's a bit vague. I'm sure to some people the Stone Roses are an old band. The Wedding Present are hitting 20 years; that's surely old in band years. Even Belle & Sebastian are getting on a bit.
