Just had a call from a mate who works for a national newspaper - it's definitely McRae - his wife Alison had confirmed to press that he went out in the helicopter earlier.
RIP Colin. What a guy.
Rally Driver, his helicopter crashed today with no survivors,no identities confirmed yet.His 5 year old son was said to be with him.

Spoke with someone who was close to Colin and it seems there were four people on the aircraft including two children, one whom was his son.
There will be no confirmation of fatalities until tomorrow but it appears his father and brother only became aware of the crash when contacted by a certain newspaper.

Shocking stuff, someone just told me he was the pilot, any news on that?
The 7 o'clock news on the radio seemed to suggest it's nearly certain it was McRae.
It's pretty certain now that he, his 5-year-old son, the son's six-year-old friend and another friend of the family died in the crash. Tragic accident.
Although I was a Makkinen fan, you had to respect McRae.
RIP Colin.
