bohs will probably blow all the money and at best reach the 1st round of the UEFA Cup. Shels have been leading the way for the league in Europe and everyone know its.

Every time a club sees its facilities improve it's got to be good news for the league as a whole, in my view. A nice 10,000 seater is surely a better draw than Dalymount for uncommitted fans. I'd be willing to bet, also, that Rosenborg's period of dominance dragged up standards in Norway as a whole, and now it is by no means the sure fire winner of that league. Finally, on fears that the other clubs will be swamped, I well remember when a whole bunch of Irish internationals started playing at Milltown and found the league a tougher nut to crack than they had expected. I reckon the deal is great news for the EL as a whole.

Bohs certainly look like they have a rosey and rich future. Its money the kind never seen in the league before. I wish them well with it and I personally feel that it could signal a turning point in the balance of Dublin club power. We had Pats in the 90's, Shels since, and now will Bohs storm ahead with the facilities and cash flow to support it. I think every fan in the league dream of deals like this.....

If I was a bohs fan, I'd have a smile on my face for weeks....

I know you can't pick an choose with things like this but the site is very far from the city, it's nearly twice the distance from town as Belfield. I think less money for a closer site would be better but I don't know if it's possible.

Having been to the site tonight, it is fine in my view. Its about 10 mins further than Dalymount and thats at 7pm driving there. Our core support of Cabra, Finglas area is all within touching distance. It is right beside the largest bus depot on the northside and it very close to a stop on two of the proposed metro routes. All in all a far better location than the first one. Also not too many green sites between Dalymount and the M50 now and not many we could afford.

Lastly the deal is expected to take between 3 and 5 years, no PP required for Dalymount at all, he will do that himself at a later date so only PP required for the new site. All monies paid in those 5 years are non refundable and trust me they amount to over 8 figures, so where Andorrey were giving us €2m non refundable, this is a different ball game.

This is what I cant understand about dublin teams and supporters, a 30 minute drive isnt going to kill anyone.

er, because lots of our support is either too young to drive, doesn't drive, or likes to have a drink before after or during the game - part of the point of living in a city is not having to drive to get to anything worthwhile

    Oh the hypocrisy

All I can say is that I hope bohs don't squander the money. Think long term. Don't have some crazy plan for winning the CL by 2010. If we win the league we might be able to keep some of our players but I imagine if we don't win it all our top players will be Bohs bound. Heary will probably stay. And Dave Crawley might too

ya, just checked soccerbot.com there and Rosenborg are 3rd behind SK Brann and Lillestrøm SK - I wish Bohs all the best with there new found millions and hope ye spend it wisely, buy a few buses, paint them in bohs colours and use them to transport people to the new ground for a nominal charge. Spend money to make money - get a big fan base and your sorted. Get them young and theyll stay for years!
