I've just noticed this post by yourself Owlsfan.
What do you mean by stating that I "rely on everyone else to provide the colour". My top was GREEN that is a f#cking colour isn't it. In fact it's more green than a Celtic shirt.
I'm hoping though, that all of the above post was typed with your tongue firmly in your cheek.
If not, you have serious problems.
It is a football forum which is why wearing a shirt of a British team to games played by the Irish national team makes no sense.
It's the opposite of wearing the same band names t-shirt to the band you are going to see. Don't be "that guy".
There is no such thing as a miracle cure, a free lunch or a humble opinion.
I guess you can wear whatever you want. I didn't see many Bundesliga jerseys at the Germany match or jerseys from former German areas. I just think it would be nice to have some uniformity when supporting the Irish team. A green jersey or an Irish jersey I think makes the most sense. A Celtic jersey just confuses the issue imho.

im starting to think that a lot of people on here soend a bit too much time thinking about these things!!
wear green - doesnt have to be a jersey - if no green wear a scarf or a hat - just bring some colour!
but all this sh1te of fan etiquette and what songs to sing or not to sing yada yada - wheres the spontaneity gone!! After being at the game last weekend I hope we dont have to resort to the german style of supporting the team!
p.s i saw loads of stuttgart jerseys at the game
I just want to run something by the fashion police, if we were to play in white, would this be ok as an outfit ??
outfit one
I want to be a true fan but think it's vital to check that this outfit would be ok.
that should be fine edmundo - although maybe you should post the type of shoe you were thinking of? maybe a nice green loafer?![]()
You must have been sitting in the Irish section, as every single person I spoke to after the game - including loads of randoms I was squashed next to on the metro - thought the Irish fans overall were very disappointing. Think I heard one chant all game from the Irish section - even in the quieter bits.
Big/easy away games like this get the holiday-loving fans who are out as much for the craic and the beer as the football. Most of them probably have limited experience of live football, and don't seem to know how to create an atmosphere.
I get increasingly disappointed/disenchanted over time with the support for Ireland.

Are you serious??Will we be wearing white or green in the Czech Republic, who wear red? Or in San Marino, who wear blue? Or in Wales, who wear red? Etc, etc...
Czechs red - Ireland in white
San Marino Blue - Ireland White
Jesus i can't believe im respondint to this nonsense and does it matter a damn.
"Being Irish, he had an abiding sense of tragedy which sustained him through temporary periods of joy."
Yea quite probably would have. At least there was a genuine atmosphere in those days and Landsdowne really was an intimidating place to come to. Oh and i seem to recall lots of Celtic jerseys as well.Probably burnt along with Maggie's effigy on the south tce.
You'd be lucky if someone didn't píss in your pocket then.![]()

Why not green? That post makes no sense.
Don't really care what people wear to games. Though I saw one of the German papers commenting on the wall of green at the ground - likened it to the Dutch fans and their usual wall of orange. Think a wall of green is better than a wall of white.
Don't know where you're getting that from!! Nobody I've heard has echoed that, either who was there, who was in Ireland watching on telly or who reporting in the papers.Originally Posted by dcfcsteve
i would much rather see all the supporters in green even at away games, but it is never going to happen, esp when you see people in Cork and Dublin jerseys!!![]()
