I'm not surprised, they had to put up the words on the big screen FFS!I didn't either. Probably just as well, I hate having one person on the pitch singing the anthem.IMO our singing of our national anthem was the best singing of the match. I didnt even realsie there was a woman singin it!![]()
We're not arrogant, we're just better.
Agreed except for me he's second only to Dunphy. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, thank you for behaving yourselves".
I remember he gave the answer to some pathetic trivia question at the end of the Swiss or French game when we were all ready to hang ourselves.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.
Great shout there lads, we need to get rid of him and get Joe Duffy in with his
"the Spanish players were suffering from DDD" Damien Duff Dizziness"

Yeah, I thought about commenting on other aspects of the Croatian support in my original post. Obviously they do have some dubious elements within their support and some very dodgy political persuasions, but I think the general point still stands, lets stop whining about the shirts other Ireland fans wear, the KO times, the types of stadium, the types of songs etc and all the other excuses for why atmospheres aren't what they used to be. There are a lot of folk who seem to be just looking for the perfect, politically correct, fan.
If anything sounds like corporate, johnnie come lately bull$hit, its that.

Hey mr stuttgart 88 any chance of loaning the match recording ?
By the way i was in Dortmund during the WC for the Swiss v Togo match.
It is an excellent football stadium.
I was also there for Liverpool 78 v Alaves 77 or whatever the final score was. The atmosphere was great.
I will say this, it was nice to see a lot more Irish jerseys and very few Celtic jerseys at the match. Not to cause a sh*tstorm but Celtic jerseys do not belong at an Ireland match.

Best quote so far.The German atmosphere was very organised.
And did you know that the Irish supporters drank a lot.
There was nothing wrong with the organised support, just the loud music at wholly inappropriate times.
Well done to the German FA and the German Fan Club for working together on such a large scale.
The organised meet before the game was excellent even though the venue was difficult to get to due to the main road by the stadium being fenced off.
I'm sure we could learn something from them, or at least the FAI should learn something !
Personally I never wear football shirts of any kind as I'm far too old and fat for that sort of thing.
It's a green Fred Perry for me.![]()

Celtic shirts worn at Ireland games long before the new age Ireland Supporter starting trying to dictate what was acceptable attire. If your not trying to stir it up, why mention it?

Agreed about the atmosphere being the brilliant. The Anthem was fantastic with so many singing loudly. Even the people who didnt know the words hummed really loud. It was mentioned in a post before we went that we should try get everyone to bounce up and down for the game while singing.. That, to me would be Savage !! If it does happen in one of the next few games then i think that there would be very very few on here moaning about it because we'd be saying that it was one of the best atmospheres. (It'd be worth to keep on the toes as well if its a freezing cold night)
"it takes two to lie. One to lie and one to listen."
Just to clarify the shirt thing from my original post,in this instance these fans were the type of person you would expect to see at a social function in the Burlington hotel, button shirts and slacks n slip on shoes, ladies with long flowing dresses.Seamed more like a government junket to Germany.
Imagine that, wearing a WHITE Irish shirt. They should banned from every football ground in the world, if not shot.

Perhaps because it is a legitimate issue? You rarely see Man. United or Liverpool shirts at England matches.
The Irish team is seperate from Celtic and the shirts should reflect that. Show some pride in the Irish national team. You can do that withou denigrating Celtic or diluting your support for Ireland.
