The Scotsman quotes a Sky Sports report

'Spartak Moscow winger Aiden McGeady has revealed his desire for a move to the English Premier League. The former Celtic midfielder left Parkhead in 2010 to sign for the Russian top flight outfit, but has made clear that he does not intend to extend his time in Moscow beyond 2014, when his current contract expires.
I have ambitions to play in England and have made it clear I won’t be signing a new contract,” McGeady said.'

Strangely similar to a Sky Sports report from this time last year, but which quoted Aiden as saying
"Of course, I still have ambitions to play in England or wherever"

very disappointing. He just wont get the same kind of playing experience in wherever as he can get in England.

They have that one very good team in wherever. What's their name, you know the one I'm talking about.

Saying that a trip to Wigan on a Saturday afternoon would be more of a challenge than a tense Champions League tie in Parkhead on a Wednesday night.......??? I'd class that as a rubbish post

    I really can't see Wigan beating Barcelona....ever
You are upsetting me and I am resisting the urge to write a snarky message to you. Let me ask you this: who do you think would finish higher in the Premier League this season: Wigan or Celtic?

I certainly think Celtic would win more than 4 games out of 17 at home.

Playing for one of the biggest Russian teams is definitely a better preparation for international football than playing for a relegation-battler in the EPL. For one, you can't compare the intensity and atmosphere of a Saturday 3pm EPL kick-off with a Wed/Tue night Champions League game in front of 70,000 partisan fans. Also, the style of play in the Russian League, even against the 'dirt-trackers', is more technical, and closer to the international game than the 100mph, end-to-end stuff in the EPL. Definitely no harm for players to get exposed to that at some point in their careers. Also, playing for a title-chasing team is much better for the confidence than playing for a team that loses every week, and often heavily against the big teams. I'd be a little disappointed if McGeady chose to go to the likes of Wigan or Sunderland.

    Celtic. Without a doubt.

But your point was that Wigan would be better test than Celtic in Champions League.. I strongly disagree

If you go down that route you could count his domestic games against Zenit and CSKA/Rubin as CL-type games as well, he'd still be getting more CL (or CL type) experince in Moscow.

"McGeady literally crushed everything in his path."

    He plays on the left
    He plays on the right
Aiden McGeady smashes doors on sight.

6 game ban for his troubles. I wonder did he swear at the home fans in English or Russian?

Anyway no more competitve football for Aiden before the Faroes game. Hopefully he can feature in the upcoming friendlies

Here's his goal from that game.
I thought you were off the drink Ronnie?

"No, I drink to help me mind my own business....can I get you one? (c) Ronnie Drew

    That goal was brilliant.

Here's the 4 game ban 'tackle'. Would hardly qualify for a handbags rating.

and the 2 game ban door damage

Now that's door damage you can be proud of.

These Russians are mad into their captions.

Would the unused part of that ban apply, if he moved to an EPL club (or wherever) next season?

Only if UEFA extended it, as far as I know.

You mean if he was transferred across a border, UEFA have to approve of the paperwork and can pass on any unused portion of the ban?
