FAI announcement due tomorrow (fingers and toes crossed it's not venenbles)
jack charlton was'nt exactly smooth talking in his media relations. he did alright for us.
The chairman of the Selection Panel set up to recruit the next manager of the Republic of Ireland senior international team has asked the President of the Football Association of Ireland to convene a meeting of the Board of Management. The President has called a meeting for tomorrow, Sunday, at 6.30pm in the Citywest Hotel, Saggart, Co Dublin. A statement will be issued after the meeting and posted on the FAI website.

I can see it now.
"The FAI are pleased to announce that Don Givens will take control of the team until the end of the current campaign, to allow the Selection Team more time to find a manager. Accordingly, some of our qualification matches will have their dates changed to allow caretaker Don Givens attend a Samba Soccer camp, go on a holiday he has already booked (Falcon won't let him change the date) and appear on Sport's Tonight in May.
A new manager is due to be appointed in mid 2009."
Ah no. Here's hoping the decision is the right one!
Anyone fancy going for a scoop down in City West tommorow evening??
Is that Irish Times story even in the paper or is it just breaking news on the internet?

trapattoni- thank god i know he is old but he is a legend. he will get us playing and people will want to play for him![]()
We control by attitudes positive mental attitudes not by rules.
anyone else surprised that venables is 2/1 on betfair and trapattoni is 7/2? I would have thought if it was really known that someone would be grabbing the 7/2
As I said, I'll only believe it's Trapattoni when I see it. Sounds like the FAI creating a diversion, making it look like they aimed high before saying Venables gets it.
Brady and Trapattoni could be a great combination but even though Emmet Malone's article makes it sound almost certain that it will be Trapattoni (when the Irish Times have yet to really break a story about someone getting the job when others have) I'll only believe it when the FAI announce it as there's been too much **** regarding who will get the job in the media.
My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method, is love. I love you Sheriff Truman.
Emmet Malone looks like he reacted to the FAI announcement of a meeting tomorrow evening and reprinted his article in todays Irish Times as breaking news. Maybe nothing will be revealed tomorrow. I hope something happens. But I also feel this is some sort of red herring.
It looks too good to be true at the moment but I will be genuinely happy if Trappatoni and Brady are unveild as the managers tomorrow evening. I think all of us will not give a **** about the process up to then.
If it happens I genuinely think that Brady has played this smart and has put himself in a very good position to have a genuine impact on Irish football.

If this comes through it will be great. Trappatoni has done it all and from the earlier youtube clip he's got the passion to go with it.His German may have been terrible but he still got the messae across. Brady in tow would be great too.
Can't get too excited though, with all the false dawns in this process.
Fingers crossed
If it's wrong the Times will look a bit stupid. They've been the most cautious to date on the whole saga so it seems odd they're making such a bold statement now.
I can guarantee that it wont be Venables, i will stalk my reputation on it. The only three, so i have been informed, that have a hope of the job are Trappatoni, Coppell and Houllier. Houllier is as good as out for differeing reasons. IMO Coppell is very doubtful so that leaves one. Dont worry too much about Venables lads.
