    Farrelly/Bohs situation

Forgetting about club rivalry for the moment, but as a football person, for all the abuse Farrelly has taken, I must say I feel slightly sorry for him. The level of abuse he has taken has not been warranted. At the end of the day its the people who put him there, the ones running the club who are responsible. Farrelly lacked the experience for the job in the first place and shouldnt have been hired, Farrelly was obviously offered a good package and one which most people wouldnt turn down regardless wheter they thought they could do the job.

Im sure if I was a bohs fan I would probably be calling for his head too, but from what ive seen and heard some bohs fans have been bit out of line. There is this 'big club' joke thing which seems to have got to the heads of some bohs fans since they won the double. Nothing seems to be good enough for them sometimes. Only 2 years ago they sacked the best manager in the league. Even then some bohs fans were calling for him to be sacked and many were glad at the time he was. Now,just look what he's done at Derry. Mahon again was victim of over the top hate campaign from elements of bohs fans, team may not have been doin aswell as they should but pete didnt warrant the level of abuse. Ive heard some of the stuff been said bout him, bein a '******', not havin a clue etc. Look what he has done since, and before, bringing a non league team to fai cup final, he's probably one of most knowledgable and passionate football people in the country. And again its a questionable decision whether he should have got job in first place, not havin had league of ireland experiience and suddenly given current double winners job.

Also nobody has divine right to be at the top of table every season. Some teams go through transitions, just as bohs are now, for a team in that transition, they aint doin too bad, form lately hasnt been that bad, and didnt they just beat shels 2-1 few weeks ago.

I do know some bohs fans personally, and am sure ive upset some bohs fans now, but am just giving an honest opinion, and that I dont think its Farrelly's fault that bohs are where they are today, surely its the ones running the club. And also am i right in saying, bohs have sacked 6 managers in 9 years.? O connor, Mcgrath, Collins, Mahon, Kenny, Farrelly. Just wondering what other people think on this matter?

A lot of fair points there.

He also took over when the club lost, with the exception of Hunt, their 5 best players

No he took over before that. It was his job to convince them to stay. He had money to spend to replace them, he blew it on cr@p.

Lynch was not one of our 5 best players (never really performed for us) and Honkins was one of our worst.

Farrelly never had a chance no bohs fan was happy when he was hired. if people were there every week they would see the terible decisions he made like bringing in Stephen O'Brien and McGuinness. Playing Ward on the left and Arkins up front leaving out O'Keeffe and Playing Rice who cann't mark so most of the goals scored against us come from Rice being out of position.
Personnaly for a long time i wouldnt protest against him as it just distracted the players and i also dont agree with people kicking and punching the tunnle i do think that last night was the final straw and the farrelly out chants were brought on by his own bad managment.

Farrelly has been with Bohs for effectively 2 seasons and the club have gone massively downhill since
he was there. He was told this year that Setanta cup qualification was a minimum requirement and he failed so he can have no complaints.
Last night was also a disgrace. Personally glad to see him go.
As for prematurely sacking previous managers,Stephen Kenny is a very good manager but fully believe he lost the plot towards
the end at Bohs and him getting the sack made him a better manager. Would defo take him back now(not as if he will come back).
Bohs fans do give stick at times but once the team give 100pc(which is not too much to expect) they get the support.
Last few seasons have not being getting close to 100pc. Hopefully the new man can get everyone to pull together and get Bohs back up the right end of the league!

Turlought O'Connor was not sacked. He took over in December 1993 and signed a 4.5 year deal. He retired in 1998 when his contract ended.

    Joe McGrath was sacked

Roddy was not sacked. His contract had expired and he was not offered another contract.

Pete Mahon was sacked as was Stephen Kenny.

Gareth Farrelly got sacked, at the very least, 3 months after he should have been sacked. Farrelly was pretty much hated by Bohs fans because our team, which costs us about €1,100,000 [pre sacking, what was budgeted for] collected 4 points from 30 in ten games against Drogheda, Shels, Derry, Cork and Sligo so far this year.

I did not want him sacked because we were not top of the table, it was because he was a total spoofer incapable of taking the club forward. We lost 9 players in November 2004 and the f*ckwit was still using that excuse not so long ago.

If Rovers had a budget of €1,100,000 for the first team you would be reacting in exactly the same way as us if the results and performances were the same as what we have endured.
