Buying a laptop

Im going to buy a laptop - I have a budget of around 650eur. Anyone here know of any good sites to buy from? - was looking at the dell site but its not the easiest to use and one or two of my friends have had problems with them in the past.

Any suggestions?

You're limited by your budget, you'll have to take what you can get.
Even Acer would struggle to give you a laptop for that price.

650 euro won't get you much in laptop land.

I have a Dell one for personal use & no real problems although it gets dirty easy. When i bought mine i thought Dell were much better value than the retail shops. Toshiba probably one of the better brands you can buy in shops though. Get the biggest HD you can afford but then again your budget is limited.

There's a difference between business machines and laptops for personal use. My work laptop cost €2,850 but you couldn't buy it if you walked into a shop on the high street.

There's going to be a big shift in spec when Windows Vista launches so you'll find it hard to get one without wireless adaptors and Intel Centrino type processors.

It would be worth your while expanding your budget a little and buying a decent machine which will last your 3 years.

Just actually got a new MacBook Pro, I got 2 gigs of RAM, 2gig Intel Dual Core processor, its the business
after using mac laptops for the last 3 years now way would i go back to PC. Gave my sister my old clunky, chunky dell machine and not missing it 1 iota

oh and we're gona beat the ****e out vista too, just wait and see

I ordered e-value code NPIE5 - N09137 yesterday from Dell, and I reckon it's fairly powerful for €650 quid. Unless you are using it for serious professional software which requires serious power, 1024MB RAM and 80GB on the HD look more than enough for most people.
