Alonso was lucky to get 5th. Webber (and probably De La Rosa & Barrichello) would been ahead of him barring unreliability and Fisi was obviously told to get out of the way.

Bridgestone seem to have got their act together so the natural order has been restored, I'd have Schumacher as a narrow favourite at this stage. Can't wait for Hungary on Sunday (never thoughht I'd be so enthusiastic about a Hungary race ).

Schumacher 11th in qualifying, Alonso 15th. Both given 2 second penalty and would have made up the front row.

Maybe but it would depend on what fuel loads they went for in the last bit of qualifying. Schumacher seemed to have the pace for polebarring a full tank but I'm not so sure about Alonso.

The 2-second penalties were a farce though. How can brake-testing someone at the end of a straight be considered less dangerous than passing someone under red flag?

I'm going to stick my neck out and say Schumacher to make the podium from 11th.

I was happy to see Jensen Button get his first win. He always comes across as a nice guy on the TV and boy has he worked hard for his win. Well done.
Michael was so close to closing the gap even further today. It really is a fantastic run-in this year.

Massa has pipped Schumacher to pole position. Alonso in third. This could be interesting. If it stays like that for most of the race you would have to assume that Massa will allow Schumacher to pass and then slow down a tiny bit to hold up Alonso and widen the gap between Schumacher and themselves. Is this a possible tactic or am I talking crap?

    1st Massa
    2nd Alonso
    3rd Schumacher

Massa was running on less fuel than Schumacher and built up a gap, as did Schumacher did over Alonso. But Ferrari messed up the pit stops, bringing Massa and Schumacher in at the same time. Schumacher had to wait and this allowed Alonso to overtake him. Schumacher should really be 8 points behind, not 12.

Schumacher wins and Alonso retires while in third. Only 2 point gap now. Also Ferrari have overtaken Renault in the constructor's championship.

Schumacher definitely has the upper hand at the moment in terms of form despite the 2 point gap. With him retiring and all I just think he will do it.

    Hope so.

Next year is going to be weird.
