    Hooligan Problem

    Hi All
I believe a huge problem with our league is HOOLIGANISM. I know sum people are gona be annoyed I bought this topic up because its seems to be very touchy for alot of fans. Im very annoyed that very little is being done about this problem by the clubs because its a problem which is growing at a rapid rate especially in Dublin. And i know for a fact this problem has turned some of my friends away from going to certain games and to watch certain clubs. I started attending Eircom League games at the start of last season. I still dont support any team in particular but I was starting to favour Shelbourne towards the end of last season as I seen them as a good team with a decent following.......UNTIL this season a scum element has now starting to attach to the club just like Rovers,Bohs and to a lesser extent Pats. First of all Shamrock Rovers are notorious for this kind of activity and I can see why.....ive seen alot of there games and I see a huge section of there support look and act like Millwall in there hats, stone island, Burberry gear ect and have seen this section cause trouble on quite a few occasions! Bohs have always being playing catch up with Rovers but trust me this season with all the trouble they have been causing they are catching Rovers. Hopefully the right measures have been taking to avoid any trouble this Friday night between them but I doubt that beacause the Gardai and the clubs seem clueless about this sort of thing! I think hooliganism is a major problem and it is keeping the crowds away from the big Dublin games I would like to here sum suggestions of how we can stamp out this problem or else id like sum feed back on how each club is dealing with this problem. Because Rovers,Bohs,Shels and even Pats have a problem.....Whats being done!!!???

One suggestion would be to not register and make your first ever post on Foot.ie a frankly sensationalist tabloid-esque spiel about hooliganism. Especially one as exaggerated as the above.

It just makes you look like a WUM.

I think there is an issue in Dublin with regards safety in or around games but it is not hooliganism as not organised to any extent.

Dalymount is very safe inside the ground but numerous incidents with kids from the area attacking buses & he like.
Richmond Park has had issues inside & outside th ground but mre to do with the locality.
Tolka Park has some issues with access to the pitc from teenagers.

All in all more social problems in dublin as in no way can be classified as hooliganism.

Well maybe I shouldnt havent since how it is a very touchy subject to the clubs involved. But the reason I posted is I never even felt the need to register and post UNTIL none of my mates will go along with me to the Bohs and Rovers match on friday night!

Ok maybe hooligan problem was the wrong word for Shels & Pats but I know for a fact Rovers & Bohs have organised hooligans and this would be every obvious to anyone whos been at either of there games. Aside from this wether a team has hooligans or non hooligans I still dont feel safe at some games at Tolka,Dayler or Richmond Park and the point im tryin to get across is there is NOTHING being done about safety issues!

I take it your mates go to English league games where almost every club has a hooligan element. A Rovers-Bohs game is for men, not mice.

The main reason many neutrals stay away is because any little incident involving the two clubs is blown WAY out of proportion by certain people in the media.

A couple of weeks ago the hearld wrote an article saying all the eircom league "factions" are meeting up and joining forces to take on the German hoolies in Stuttgart. Thats probably the laziest, most ridiculous thing I've read in my life.

The way your going on man , ya would think theer were mass riots every week like in england , every club has a scum element not just bohs and rovers . Yeah the media have jumped more at them clubs but we all have problems maybe not as big as each club , its up to the clubs to ban them and other fans to stop them .
