Funny enough you say this the newtown LADS havent got a clue about this, they all thought there match yesterday was just called off due to weather, this is a joke that the youths arent informed about this.

Shouldn't bother the youths too much as it was the 17's that were meant to play. I think they gave a w/o as a protest.

    Top scorers

Anyone know the league top scorers in the league?

I'd say Declan "spinky" McDonald must be up running away with it.
    Anyone know anyone with more?

Bridge United and Newtown was played in impossible conditions at the weekend i don't think anyone wanted it to go to extra-time especially the home team as the pitch was cutting up very badly. A great strike to finish what must have been a tough game for both teams who meet again this weekend. I wonder will the pitch be playable this week? It seemed very badly cut up after the game on Sunday and don't Newtown youths have a match at home sometime this week?

I have a lot to say about it.On the previous Tuesday at training the 5 u17s who play with the youths and remaining players who come from the 16s informed the club that they were not available to play on Paddys Day as they were going top the various parades so out of a panel of 19 players only 8 were available. The club informed Michael lydon that night and he stated that they should make themselves available and he was not calling of a match on Tuesday night.By Thursday /Friday the situation had not changed so Newtown informed the league and again they were told the match would not be switched so the club were informed that it would be deemed a walkover because the players should know the 17s and youths were played on alternate weekends.

If this is the case why was a 17s match on Saturday and Youths on Monday,???We were forced into this situation and never wanted to give a walkover and instead of being encouraged and assisted in keeping 17s and youths going we are being hampered.

If you have reasonable grounds for the match to be re-scheduled I don't understand why it can't be.. sounds like the Clare league are (in the words of Roy Keane.) being a bunch of muppets! If you give them nearly a weeks notice that you can't field a team I think they should at least consider it. How stupid are they to even schedule a match for St.Paddys day!?

look...I have to say that the league were nearly completely right not to call it off. loads of games hav been cancelled already and its a tight schedule at this stage. If the most of the Newtown 17s panel want to go off and take part in stupid, childish parades around shannon INSTEAD of playin a big cup match then let 'em f*** off and do it because that is one of the most stupid reasons to try call off a game --because of walkin around in a crap parade.fair play to lydon.i'd say somethin if they had players being forced to play gaa instead but --a parade!!for god sake.youths games wer on monday because it was a bank holiday, wats wrong wit that.jesus its a sad day to see 11 or so lads wantin to take part in a stupid parade over playin soccer..they arent REAL soccer lads anyway

Lets try and figure the logic in this one.

Its ok if you go and play GAA but its not if you go to a parade with your families on Patricks Day.

Is this because St Paddy was foreigner???

ref was poor and gave nearly every 50/50 to olympic

fair play to bridge celtic b...i dont think anyone gave them much of a chance
What about the 50/50 box in the face Jimmy Houlihan got right under the refs nose????

Just a simple question Hacker, can you clarify which teams got preferance to play on the Monday as I was under the impression that Cup games were down for Sunday, with League games going ahead on Monday (I could be wrong with this).
On a lighter note, have to agree with your 9 out of 10 sentiments, unfortunately, that leaves the 1 in which you can be beaten as proven last weekend.
With regards to the League and M. Lydon in particular, you will have probably noticed that a lot of fixtures have fallen foul of the weather and is weeks behind schedule and every opportunity is being taken to bring it up to scratch. If that entails playing Paddies weekend, so be it. The teams that won are not complaining.
The way the weather is continueing, we could have Summer Soccer after all.

I'd be surprised if the Clare League made a clever decision like this
If you're in the penalty area and don't know what to do with the ball, put it in the net and we'll discuss the options later

Hacker, you must be dissapointed with the lads that let you down by not turning up or being too hungover. I cant see any reason why the matches shouldn't have went ahead on Sunday, players had enough notice. Its down to priorities, would they rather get ****ed on Paddy's day or have a chance of winning the cup? They had sunday night to go out and monday to recover FFS. I'm sure some people will disagree but thats life!

Are you referring to Mountshannon when you say Bunratty would beat them 9 out of 10 times?? If so, your having a laugh. Mountshannon are a very organised tough team to beat, and were also missing a few themselves through injury. Also a premier side!! I dont think Bunratty would beat any premier team 9 out of 10 times

Bunratty may not beat any team in the premier 9 times out of 10 but you can be sure they'd give any team in the premier a run for their money. As i'm aware Bunratty were missin a few players also!

great idea, but if the clare league were going to do this it would have been done years ago..

Wel maybe something could be done about it so,because you could easily get more than 3 teams to vote for the summer soccer,95% of clubs would definetely be in favour for it,the pitches would be alot better, the weather would be good and personally i think it would put clare soccer up a notch.

would agree with you papa-j.. is this the same olympic who were sticking together / battling to stay up .. & yet they could not have a bit of pride for their club >> very easy to stay in or take it handy on a saturday night
