This is the sort of stuff that helped the talks breakdown. Both the responsible people in Park and Newtown thought they could amalgamate in the interests of soccer in the town.Other people thought it was better to struggle on in desperation. The latter won the day but who is the winner now??????
The reason they didnt agree to move to Parks pitch was that they felt the matter had to be investigated further and not just allow hearts to decide such an important issue. Why did the Park members think it was essential that the show only go on in their place without full investigation?????
Is the accuracy of the amount of water based on fact or another wildly inaccuarte statement?
For the record on the one occasion the banks of the local stream did burst the pitches were flooded ,as adirect result of the Council not keeping the pumps on after taking over from SFADCO,but instead of measuring the amount of water to see if it would fill an Olympic swimming pool the Newtown people rectified the situation. So Im sorry I cant answer your question accurately.

and to add that Newtown held an EGM and voted in a steering committee, with full responsability to act on behalf of the club. Parks representatives had to go back to the club and vote on each issue which allowed the "begrudgers"
block the move at evey step. These same begrudgers have now jumped ship while their club goes down the tubes. I feel sorry for the genuine Park people but those who let the club down when needed most should be ashamed.
you are only a loser when you stop trying. Playing sport does not build character, it reveals it.

totally agree. anybody who blocked that move should be disgraced. Would be a good time for newtown to do it now if they still want to play ball in the limerick league !! espicaly if the people that blocked the move have moved on !!
[QUOTE=shelbourne1904;520855]Incorrect none of the park people who were involved in the talks are at Newtown. All are still at Park. Look up the courier during the week and see the organisation still at Park and by the way the containers will be for storage only by the end of the season and Park were aware of this during the talks.Newtowns pitch is still subject to heavy flooding Park have carried out major works to the pitches during the off season and this will continue until they are up to the very best standard.
[QUOTE=riverside;523089]Noone said the people involved in the talks had gone to Newtown. What was said was that some of the Park players who had blocked the amalgamation
had gone to Newtown and I heard this from a Park person.
On the issue of the flooding .This happened once due to the Clare County Council, who had only just taken over the town pumps from SFADCO,not turning on the pumps on one weekend resulting in the stream overflowing. This has since been rebanked and the pumps issue resolved.
At the time of the discussions ,over a year ago, there were no proper dressing rooms at Park, there were at Newtown. There are still no dressing rooms at Park. What happens in the future is a different matter but could hardly have been included as a fact at the time of the debate. On that basis Newtown could have included a 2500 seater stand which could have been included for an arguement for Ballycasey. This issue was it didnt matter to Newtwon where the future ground was as long as it was independently assesed before decision as the best option.
Correct, shels but the grounds were always going to be a sticky wicket and probably should have been dealt with at the very beginning. The independant guy might not work, there was one involved at the beginning and he came up with nothing conclusive.
You are correct on him giving no directive but the idea was to start with things that were common so the whole thing would get a momemtum, which it did,but surely everyone new that ramming things down either sides throat was a no go from the begining and as I said before Newtown had no issue with either ground being the premier ground as long as this was arrived at impartially and not just because one side or the either thought theirs was better.
dont thik so shels two of your team would have been dead against it even if the middle man said play the a games at park
Yea you could be right there
