What is the story with Johnnie boy?

... i hear that john o'flynn may not be playing for city for very long and that a number of nationwide clubs are prepared to buy out his contract. by all accounts he is pretty keen to get a move back to england and i reckon if he does well for the u21's it could happen alright.

does anybody really think we can even get a full season out of him given he continues his current goalscoring rate.

i reckon george o'callaghan is in the same boat as well. probably sees his time with city as a chance to get back to england.

Any one have any ideas?

Every club in the el especially bohs and Glen crowe are hoping we sell him,
If he get a good run u21 and continues the scoring can you blame him for going? a resale fee would have to be slapped on.
Should we stop him developing as a player? he is only 19 he would be worth more money if he was 22-23 so he might see out this year, It goes to show you the ITV failure has defo improved the chances of el clubs getting back some of the best youth players and letting those player put themselves back in the shop window creating high revenues for the club, Rosenburg have been doing this for years and have constantly been in Euro completions.

Is he too good for EL that's the question. we need to bring el up to his level but that is going to take the FAI many years.

if john stayed at least one season I say fair enough. ideally he would play for city for the rest of his career but he continues to score 2 goals a game then it ain't likely to happen.

however he is tied to the club for two seasons and ultimately they are the arbitrators of his future. unless a nationwide club offers some silly money for him now then he has to say and play as well as he can to get himself in the shop window

i reckon city will be realistically looking to get the best out of him for this season at least and hopefully pick up a trophy then as dricky said above sell at a bigish profit.

however you never know city might win the league - john scores 30 league goals we qulaify for europe and lennox pays him a full time salary and ties him to the club on a 5 yr contract

Theres nothing wrong with players wanting to go to england to further themselves - if they didn't have ambition they'd be no good anyway.

Obviously its too soon to comment on John O'Flynn but hes still under contract with CCFC & no players should ever be sold under 100k sterling absolute minimum.

Be intertesting to see what Carlisle have to pay for Brian Shelley under the new UEFA compensation rules.

If he keeps playing the way he is right now, it will be hard to keep hold of him. The important thing is that he is contracted to City for two years. And that means we have a bargaining tool.

Liam Murphy said in the Echo last night that he wouldn't be letting him go to some Englsih Nationwide Club. It would take an offer from an English Premiership temam to prize him away.

slap on a resale fee of 10% if he goes to the prem otherwise keep him, he may be worth 25+ goals this season, Glen crowe won it for bohs with less goals and from what I seem to be reading by all account crowe is not going to be the top man this year if this keeps up.
I think the crowd will have a bit to play in weather he goes before the prem starts or sticks around to see if there is a trophy.
If he does go to a prem side those boy's in Peterboro will not be very happy. remember the postings on their site Ha Ha

Good luck to him he has help CCFC in more was than in front of goal, the press he's getting is all good for CCFC.

If we goes anywhere! This is what eL clubs Have to start doing. Imagine if Ramblers had of put a 10% clause in his Forest contract - woulda been worth about �600,000 back in '93! Same with Damien Delaney - as soon as he played in the Premiership, his price was doubled.

Well If Gunther did say that, it can only be seen as positive. It would be great to cash in on a few players (better to hold on to them i know), and get a credible fee for them.

i think (assuming his form continues) that if city left O'Flynn go for anything less than �200,000 + a 10% sell-on fee it would be madness. i wouldn't even think of letting him go this season. If he goes before the end of the season, City should be looking for the above figure, plus whatever they stand to lose by (possibly) not getting into europe at the end of it. the time has come to stop giving our players away!

While i don't like the way eL clubs feel they have to let players go so as 'not to stand in their way' it is unfortunately a relaity at the moment due to the largely part-time nature of the league.

Crowe & Bohs is the future as clubs will be much less likely to let players go when they already paying them a fulltime wage. A fulltime club is probably a lot more likely to look at the real cost of selling their top player - reduced crowds, harder to attract other good players, loss of european income etc......

Cork City should also not be losing players such as Ollie & Derek beacuse of lack of funds anymore - plan & budget for a fulltime outfit & IMO crowds will get even bigger. There is no reason the club cannot rivals the likes of Bohs or $hel$ for resources.

Arent people getting just a little bit carried away? Firstly, its only been 3 games into the season & one of those games was against a LSL team that wasnt even in preseason training. Secondly if he was good enough to be going to a Prem club, wouldnt he have played a couple of times in the 3rd division? Thirdly, just look at the summer transfers this year. If you exclude the Rio Ferdinand transfer, the next biggest transfer in Brittan was �13mil, down from other years, clubs are slow to spend and fast to sell, so I wouldnt exactly be expecting a flood of clubs looking for him. I hope he does well & stays with City for ever & ever like Jonny C (but knows when to call it quits

) and that if we do sell him, it would be for a price & clause like Eanna's one.

Lets be realistic, no club in england bar maybe a premiership club can afford to pay 100,000 on a player who was released by a 2nd division club, the current economic plight in england wouldn' allow it.And i couldn't see a premiership club buying a player without a full season under his belt, or else having him over on triaL a couple of times like Leon McSweeny at leicester, what happended him?. That brings me to city,would city if they were having a good season ie.chalenging for the league and pulling in 4000+ crowds every week either 1) allow a player go on trial or 2) sell him less then his market vaLUE coz lets face it no english clubs are prepared to pay anything near market value, these days.The only thing so that i could see him leaving would be if he had a clause in his contract, a possibility for a player wanting to go back to Ingerland.I guess it remaINS to be seen!!

Leon McSweeney joined (with zero publicity) Leicester last summer & played youths or reserves last season. Anyone know why city didn't get a penny from that?

If a city player isn't getting his game here then thers no so much wrong with being allowed travel to the uk for a trial. However no first team player should eb allowed travel for a trial - if a club interested in him enough they can watch in the eL.
