If it's going to a poll, I'll propose "The Wolfe Tones A Nation Once Again League".
More seriously, I'll add my voice to those happy to refer to the League of Ireland. I'd take the I-League though.![]()
Bingo. Or just eircom National League - people will know what we're talking about.
Then the "pyramid" *COUGH* would look like this
National League Premier Division
National League First Division
National League U-20 Championship
National League A Championship
with the sponsor's name on the front, if necessary.
Faddish names like 'I-League' or especially references to Elite are likely to promote ridicule more than anything else.

You can't spell failure without FAI
Just looking at those NLSA-FAI minutes:
Hedging their bets on Shels surviving the cold hand of the Revenue, eh?PC also added that there will be 20 or 22 clubs in the league next season. NLSA said that if there was a new club coming in it should come from a county where there is no EL club e.g. Kerry, Mayo, Tipperary etc. The extra club in next seasons league will be picked by the same group who will pick the placings of the new league.![]()
You can't spell failure without FAI
FAI <insert sponsor> Super League.
How about:
New, Improved League Of Ireland
I-League is kinda cool, and appropriate given the traditionally short sighted inability of clubs to cooperate or look at the big picture.
#NeverStopNotGivingUp
The I-League with TV and radio adverts along the lines of "The I-League, everyone's watching".

Who Cares?!
The <sponsor> League of Ireland? can't think of anything better, but I'd prefer something simple.
I-League sounds ridiculous I think ...
"The Roddy Collins is a c**t League of Ireland"
#NeverStopNotGivingUp
Bit rusty on this but here goes:How about having the name of the league in Irish??
"Is c**t é Roddy Collins Conradh ná hÉireann"
#NeverStopNotGivingUp
I see nothing wrong with "The Eircom Premiership" or "Eircom Premier League", or even "Eircom Premier League Of Ireland".
The I-League sounds daft to me, I'm getting tired of it already. And I think we should save "Super League" and the likes for the day when the two Irish leagues see sense and amalgamate....
Would have to agree with 4tothefloor Not a fan of I-League as the new name how about Eire A and Eire B or is do they that ridiculous as well? just a suggestion
National League
NSL ... National Soccer League?
The I League is a copycat of the A League in Oz or the J League in Japland.
I love it though. Put me down for one I League please.
Nobody knows us, we don't care
I too like I-League, though I can see potential confusion between the I-League and the Irish league.
Maybe we could be the I-I-yippy League?![]()
Revenge for 2002
Like I-League now, though how I'd feel hearing it everyday might be different. National League is fine too, though. But please, please, no 'elite' or 'super.'
EDIT: Something sensible and short(ish) in Irish is my favourite idea, if such a word could be found... (Don't know any Irish myself)
I think the I-League sounds sh!t.
An Deisceart?
I thinkwe have already had the discussion & jokes about the names. I thought the point of this was to add non-joke suggestions?
