While not trying to put the Kabia or Dobbs curse on him, I think that the short answer is yes. He has a fantastic sence of where the goal is and seems to love scoring. Hopefully he wont get any of the injuries that plagued him in England.
As I say, we're just young & a bit nieve.

LOL. He's alright. The Kabia curse is now in Germany. We were at the Kaiserslutern Intertoto game last night and some new fella came on for them up front and had a total mare.

Not wanting to put a dampner on things but i think good performances are common for returnees from the english leagues.....

This came when talking about how bad $hel$ Kevin Doherty (ex-Liverpool) has looked this season. He returned last season & clearly carried on his greater fitness level from Liverpool days which gave him an advantage which he doesn't seem to have this year.

Even allowing for that I suppose O'Flynn back from Peterboro who i'm sure wouldn't have half the facilites of Liverpool.

I didn't see the UCD game but it would seem reasonable that players back training with city won't maintain the same fitness levels as with their previous club? O'Flynn from $hel$ game does have an eye for goal & even if his fitness drops his finishes should ensure he keeps knocking in the goals.

good point about the fitness thing alright. still though the two goals he scored against ucd showed a certain intelligence and craft. firstly for anticipating the free from gaz and having the presence of mind to score. no-one anticipated it.

in regardto the second gaol for being professional enough to expect the ball to break him while the other team were expecting the ref to call back play. the legitmacy of the goal while questionable was excellant in it's finish.

however let's hope the lad doesn't get too ****y and start thinking it's always going to be this good.

a lot of fans are still reserving judgement given the kabia and dobbs thing and to a certain extent cpob

Good point Dalo- I think the CPOB factor is crucial. He went from unknown to hero in 2 or 3 games and all of a sudden when he made one or two mistakes people were on his back, which I think really affected him. You always hear managers saying young players need to be wrapped in cotton wool and other cliches like that, but they do have a point.

I would think that the main aim for John O'Flynn would be to get back to soccer in England. (Am I being harsh?) To that end, he would know that he would have to keep his fitness level high, and perform as well as he can for as long as he has too. I think he is at least Div 1 level in England, based on the evidence so far.
I really cannot see City holding on to him if he keeps it up. Then again, maybe he is happy to be at home and I'm talking total sh*te.....
The other thing is that even if there was a question mark over his second goal, O'Neill cancelled it out with the 2nd penalty. That was a laughable decision, and after seeing it again about 4 times on the multi, it came as big a surprise to UCD as to evryone else.
He really is a sh*t ref.

if the city thrid goal was given against us ther would have been up roar.

does anybody actually monitor ref's as he was very poor, even thought it worked to our advantage.

as for flynn leaving he is on a one year contract i presume, so we will have him until jan. then it's up to ccfc to make him a decent offer. still though if he gives us the league i won't be complaining

I agree with you, dalo, but he gave the second penalty to make up for it. He took the first chance he got to give them a goal.

I didn't realise the board had written contracts thesdays I thought it was all large brown envelopes and Gunther's word as his bond

Still though that is good news. i do really think he could be the "chosen one" as prophiesed by Moses The man who brings balance to our attack and unites the ying of deccie and gunther with the yang of lennox and defeats the dark side

Is that a verbal or written contract?

Came as a surprise to me anyway, I thought it was a corner that was being given! I couldn't tell much about any of the goals down the shed end. The view from the uncovered seats where we were is terrible.

Oh and the ref was dreadful, he gave nothing against Cork for all the pulling.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Pat Kelly from Blackrock is the top Ref assor in the country and is at every City match doing Ref reports. He also helps out with the Ref profile the programme.
