Last night was very much a case of two points dropped for us and with Rovers and Galway dropping points it was a bad result. Kilkenny had two proper shots on target and they both went in... both on counter attacks. The first was well taken but Mooney was already injured when the second was scored and his mobility was seriously lacking.

It was a good come back and both our goals were decent too, Carty's rebound proving yet again that he's the best finisher at the club and Jason McCartney's goal a precise finish at the end of a good move. We created a lot more than we have done at late, their keeper (surely the nicest guy in the eircom League) made about four or five top saves and there was a handful of goalline clearances and near misses too. It was sorta like the Galway game in reverse for a spell there.

Tommy Barrett's spell in goal was mercifully quiet enough though he made a couple of catches and what have you. It's hard to get too encouraged by the game because Kilkenny were pretty poor overall and you'd expect us to boss them (even without Johnny Lester).

Gareth Cooney and Robbie Kelleher were the stand out players for me on the night though McCartney looked sharp and incisive when he came on and he's surely worth a start ahead of Kevin Waters?

Big question ahead of the next game has to be the goalkeeper crisis... with John Healy already injured and the error-prone U-21s lad also on the crocked list what happens if Mooney's knock keeps him out? A month-long contract for the newly freed Jimmy Fyffe anybody? Now there's a can of worms opened!
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Also discovered why there are so few Kilkenny posters on foot. The internet cafes down there are one euro for....ten mins and if that wasnt bad the cough..programme at the game all three pages was 3 euro as we were getting beaten 2 0 we were heading to the carlsberg add of it being priceless. There was under 60 at the game though and you'd wonder how they survive. Good comeback in a game we should have won easy against a very poor Leinster senior league team

The Kilkenny game is on Chorus - I saw it last night. Gael and a fw other hardy souls have a great dance behind the goals when the equaliser goes in.

Jaysus, we were poxed as well -particularly with their second goal. Robbie hits the post and instead of coming out into the path of Carthy and Waters (I think) it goes straight into the ahnds of the Kilkenny keeper. He clears up field and Kilkenny score. In the space of 30 seconds we go from a lick of paint away from 1-1 to 2-0 down.

Gael had actually left the spot behind the goal a few moments earlier because it started raining, Monkfish, Lim Til I Die and my good self were left to enjoy it.

That explains why Carthy and McCartney made a run to the fans behind the goal - had a look and decided better of it.

I think Derek only realised at the last minute that the net was between him and the 'horde' of support. =) I won't lie, while I think Derek's a lovely guy the sadist in me was hoping he'd run into the net... though with our injuriy shenanigans the other night no doubt it would have proven fatal...
