Can I put it on the record that I'm both shocked and astounded by this brilliant, brilliant post from a Bohs fan.

Was listening to the game last night and couldn't help notice the (presumably Motherwell employed) announcer playing "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter at full time. Whoever he is he's a legend

Commentators were gas aswell they nearly came out through the radio when Derry got the fourth

brilliant display and result by derry, just came across the game by pure fluke when channel surfing (setanta) - last 4 goals were just class - as were the mass fans behind the goal, christ how good must that have felt - every other 21, opps, 20 clubs in our league would have loved a slice of that in our dreams.

surprised not much made in papers today re previous record wins in europe, think i saw it was biggest ever win away in europe by an irish side (hardly surprising) - rovers were next best beating a Lux side 4-1 away in the 60`s - other big wins were us beating Fram of Iceland at home 4-0 in early 80`s

Can anyone post any other big wins ? I cant recall any more than 2 or 3 nils

Shelbourne beat Glentoran 4-1 in Tolka Park two season ago in the CL First Qualifying Round. It was 6-2 on aggregate.

EDIT - P.S. You robbed my avatar!

    Gretna Can Still Win

    Article from Gretna Website -

Despite being 5-1 down after the home-leg, Gretna still have a chance to progress to the first-round proper of the UEFA Cup when they travel to Derry City on Thursday (Aug 24) - with this club, anything is possible.
While the idea of winning by five goals away from home after losing by such a large margin at home, it should be remembered that Gretna were playing at Fir Park - not Raydale Park - and the players had only played one competitive match (and it's arguable whether winning 6-0 at home to Hamilton really counts as a competitive match).

So how can Gretna achieve what would be one of the greatest European comebacks of all-time? By not treating it as a European match, but a standard league fixture.

The difference with league games, of course, is that - unless a club needs a good goal-difference at the end of the season - a 1-0 win earns the same points as a 6-0 win. Gretna's players know all about winning by large margins, they have done so many times over past few seasons, and nobody would be too surprised if the Black and Whites were to score twice inside the first 10 minutes of a league fixture and then on to score a hat-full.

Sure, there is a viewpoint that Gretna's players underestimated Derry City before the second-leg - although that has been denied by a fuming Steve Tosh - but there is no chance of doing that again. Whoever starts on Thursday should believe they can win the tie - not just the match.

It is essential the match is broken down into small parts, with an aim for each part. For example, scoring two within 10 minutes has to be the initial task.

The speed of Derry's attack compared to Gretna's defence, who were made to look flat-footed in the first leg, also suggests that attack really should be Gretna's best form of defence.

With lots of luck (perhaps like the luck Kevin Deery had to score two blinders in the same game, let alone the same decade), and belief, Gretna can do this - and I'm sure most fans would rather see them lose with all guns blazing than settle for a clean-sheet.

Sure, it's not likely (and nowhere near as likely as the 20/1 one bookie is offering), but stranger things have happened in football, just ask Liverpool...

Our recent poll asked 'How should Gretna treat the UEFA second-leg?' and, currently, an overwhelming majority have said Gretna should try and win by five goals.

Try to win by five goals 61%
    Any win will do 23%
Aim for a clean sheet 5%
    Field an experimental team 11%
