maybe he is just giving the lad a public boost, qwerty, maybe he is a confidence player. and any by-product of Lawrence playing for us will have been him standing out for Quinn at sunderland, which can only be good news for Quinn and his new club.

Quinn does view the world through green tinted shades alright but id be surprised if he was as naieve as to try to run sunderland from an Irish angle solely. and theres nothing wrong with having a club of that size that is Irish-friendly anyway, as long as its sucessfull.

on that very matter, leicester is today full of the rumour that Maybury may be bound for the stadium of light, but i stress, its just rumour at the mo, threre may well be nothing in it.

Clarke conceded a penalty on his debut, nice one son.

Murphy again looked decent enough and Elliott will score if he gets a decent supply.

He has a long was to go before the threatens McCarthy's record with Sunderland.

And Arsenal also had Devine playing for them around that era as well.

Recently Sheffield Wednesday had Partridge, Coughlan, Whelan, Corr and Murphy all on the same team. None is a full international though
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

    Mulligan, Martin, Giles and Treacy
Was Grealish not there for a while also??

Yeah, Grealish went to West Brom sometime in ´83 I think.
For record purposes it doesn't count as then he was the only West Brom player on the Irish team.

Hopefully Maybury wont be moving really dont rate him at all .. I think all quinny was doing was giving Lawrence a boost saying he is good enough to be able to make it internationally if we he gets more consistent. Looks like Spurs have rebuffed our bids for andy reid today . Pity would have been a great signing .

Was that most Irish on a team record not set by Boro back in the early 1990's.
6 I think it was and the only one I recall was Alan Kernighan(SP)

Sundeland had Kilbane, Thornton, Reddy and Babb at the same time, although they might not have played together

Defo Gary Howeltt (1 cap v China) and I think Tony Grealish captained the side in place of the suspended Steve Foster for the drawn game

    1983 FA Cup Final lineup:

MANCHESTER UNITED: Bailey, Albiston, McQueen, Moran, Duxbury, Wilkins, Murhen, Davies, Robson, Whiteside, Stapleton
BRIGHTON: Mossley, Ramsey, Pearce, Grealish, Foster, Gatting, Stevens, Howlett, Robinson, Smith, Smillie

Plus I think Ashley Grimes was United's sub.
"Jacques Santini...will be greeted in every dugout of the country by "one-nil, one-nil" - Clive Tyldsley, 89th minute of France-England June 13, 2004.
"Ooooohhhh Nooooooo" Bobby Robson 91st minute.

Since you refer to me in such a favourable tone I shall respond. That Brighton cup final is a sore point with me because they beat Wednesday in the semi-final.

I can't really remember which Irish played for them other than Robinson and Tony Grealish.
