Perhaps Steve McClaran phoned the FIA and advised them that he didn't

As for being bored, a lot of subjects on here bore me but I am not so rude as to make my boredom public.
I accept that whilist I may find a subject boring there may be other people who do not, some people may not be as narrow minded as me, so I don't
go around trying to close threads which don't particularly tickle my fancy.
Listen, you're going on about Nolan at every opportunity, in posts that are unrelated to Nolan, thats fairly rude yourself mate. That your Nolan thread was closed is not my buisness or problem. Why are you still going on about it? He's not eligible, he will not play for Ireland, he's English. Get over it. You're like the child that eyes his best friends toys, it doesn't matter how much you like them, you can't have them. SIMPLE.....THE END.

I am responding to your post of which Kevin Nolan is the topic, it would be rude not to reply.
Anyway it was not "my (your) Kevin Nolan thread", it is a merged thread, containing
several threads about Kevin Nolan, none of which I started if I recall correctly.

tricky_color, I am telling you as an administrator of this forum to stop this line of argument immediately, as it is disruptive. If you don't stop, you will be suspended from the site.

In other words: Enough. Drop it. Did you enjoy making me spell it out?

Don't you think it is excessive locking all threads about a player who untill
a few days ago was being persued by the FIA. I certaintly do. That's why I am considering leaving this site permantly

Here is a definition of the of the word moderate:-
    http://www.answers.com/topic/moderate

"Being within reasonable limits; not excessive or extreme."

I fail to see how that fits in with the moderation policy being applied here.

The content on this site is going to the dogs, so many threads descend into a spat about Kevin Nolan or the Eircom League. I've been using this site as a reader and a poster for three years and the amount of petty rehashed arguements has really diminished my interest in posting or reading here.

verb: (moderate) "to be reasonable, not excessive or extreme"
noun: "(moderation) "the state of being reasonable, not excessive or extreme"
noun: (moderator) "one who ensures reasonableness, not excess or extremism"

They are all derived from the same word(s).

[Middle English moderat, from Latin moderātus, past participle of moderārī, to moderate.]

But the overall point is that the moderation here is not moderate, it appears to be excessive and extreme.

Well the simple solution to that would be not to read such threads, I can't
for the life of me figure out why you would be reading such threads in the first place. If you feel a thread has descended in to a spat then simply stop reading it, thats what I do, I do a quick can of the thread and if I feel there is
nothing worth reading in it I simply do not read it!!
No need to lock the thread, some people may like to read what you consider petty rehased arguements, and some people may be new to the site, I doubt very much they will want to read threads several years old. Also some people may want to add something new to one of those threads but they are not going to be able to do that is the thread is locked. And let's face it, it is
a fact of life that the same topics will crop up time and time again. I can remember the offside rule being discusssed 20 years ago, I have no doubt it
will still be discussed in 20 years time too. I mean I could write in to the
BBC and ask if they will muzzle Alan Hanson but I doubt it will happen.
"Shocking defending" is a phrase I will just have to put up with if I want to
    watch football on TV.

Don't think we haven't noticed you trying to take other threads off-topic btw. If there's any more of that kind of childish idiocy, you won't be leaving of your own accord.

I have no intention of getting into a back and forth with you tricky_colour. If you don't like the site, either close the browser and leave, or have your little tantrum and get banned. It make no difference to me, and it'll be nothing new either way -- I've dealt with plenty of clever trolls in my time, and you're not even close. Buh-bye now.

I think you should be the bigger man and just get on with your business tc.It's true that the locking of threads on this site is very selective and there are a lot of big egos in charge but everyone is aware of this and we're all better off ignoring it instead of dragging out arguments and throwing cyber digs.PS,who would want kevin nolan,he's a pric

I don't really want to get involved in that kind of stuff, I just felt I was not being allowed to make a reasonable and relevant post, without jumping through hoops (no pun intended ). the censorship aspect does bother me a little though. As long as people are civil I don't see it matters what they post, even if some people consider it rubbish, some people have made a lot of money out of rubbish.

By the way thanks for the personal insults, isn't that something you are here to prevent rather than instigate?

Anyway looking at your approach to 'conflict resolution' on the net your response to to me could be considered mild.

I assume this is related to you. My appologies if I am mistaken. I don't know if you watch "Big Brother", but in the words of Aisleyne "Know yourself".

I think you've got away with plenty by purposely dragging 4 threads off topic in protest about the Nolan thread being closed. The vast majority of forums I post on would have banned you for that. In all my years on the internet I got my first forum banning yesterday, for calling Craig Bellamy an idiot. A bit extreme (especially as it's the truth) but I accept it and take a weeks ban.

What are you like? I'm pretty shocked at how far you're going. I told you already that I would have left the Kevin Nolan thread open but there was absolutely no way it was going to stay on topic. Anyway, Nolan isn't eligible for Ireland. Nolan, Staunton and the FAI made a mistake in thinking he was eligible to play for us. He had 12 months to declare for us and failed to do so when Kerr contacted him.

Stop taking it personally because I closed a thread. It has absolutely nothing to do with my feelings for Nolan. Jesus, you're are going way OTT and should just quit it.

Do you not think one of the main jobs of a moderator is to keep threads off topic? If a thread descended into a spat then it's the mods job to do something about it. This is not one of those forums with as many threads as posts. There's one thread for every topic and they have to be kept on topic.

This is not one of those forums with as many threads as posts. There's one thread for every topic and they have to be kept on topic.

I didn't drag any threads off topic, I simply made a few posts containing the
letters KNNONLAEVIN arranged into a sequence some people find offensive.
If the thread went off topic as you call it then that is where it went, that is
what people wanted to talk about. That is what peeple are here after all isn't it to talk about stuff.Topics drift naturally because that is the way a normal persons mind works, it relates related things. It's not crime to relate to matters. So you are there to upset people by illegitimately closiing threads.
There is no definition of 'spat', if people are being abusive, then you deal with those people, you do not lock the thread and there by abuse hundreds of innocent people who have not been abusive.
As for Kevin Nolans eligibility, and issues surrounding it, it is perfectcly reasonable for me to be able to discuss that in the forum, there is no reason whatsoever why I or anybody else should not be able to do this. There is no valid reason why I should not be able to do this in the Kevin Nolan thread.
That fact that you or other moderators appear unwilling or able to moderate the thread is not my problem. I would have no problem performing that task without locking the thread. thanks for putting forward you opinion but as I am sure you are aware you did it in the wrong forum so it is off topic for here.
However I am rghtly entitled to hear the opinions of everyone who is interested, not just yours. It's not a one man show.

So as far as I am concerned the approach to moderation here is seriously flawed. And I am not being over the top I am being perfectly reasonable.
Is perfectly reasonable to want to talk about issues related to Irish International football in an Irish Interbational football.
If some one is being a abusive then you deal with that person you do not lock the thread and thereby abuse every other menber of the forum.

And yes abuse includes calling other people 'idiots or trolls' no so bad when you are referring to a third party, but not very nice when you are referring to another member of the forum. You would expect dahamasta to know better and set a better example. I doubt he would talk to me like that to my face.

I am not taking it personally there is nothing personal about the fact that people, not just me, should be able to discuss with in reasonable limits
matters related to irish football. If you can't do that then its not an Irish football forum, is it?
