    Drogheda v. Start

It looks likely that Start aren't going to play their first-choice centre halves against Drogheda on Thursday. Also likely that there will be a number of changes from their last league match. I don't know what to make of this. On the hand it could be that Start are more focused on the league and not "interested" in the UEFA cup. On the other hand it could be that Start don't believe that they'll have much trouble beating Drogheda. Anyways this only increases Drogheda's chances and represents a great opportunity for the league to increase its ranking.

    warning signs for Drogs:

    Skála 0-1 Start
    16-Jul-2006 Tippeligaen (13) Odd Grenland 2-0 Start
    23-Jul-2006 Tippeligaen (14) Start 2-1 Rosenborg
    31-Jul-2006 Tippeligaen (15) Lyn 1-2 Start
    06-Aug-2006 Tippeligaen (16) Brann 0-1 Start

Start have recently turned it around and have beaten three of the best known (in our place) teams in Norway.

Helsinki were physically stronger than Drogs and I think Start may be more of the same and probably better footballers with it (than the Finns)

I'd also be wary of stories coming from clubs in the lead up to these sort of games. Bit of spin going on maybe.

Saw Start beat Lyn on Monday last in the Ullevaal - their position in the League atm is a false one (second from bottom) - they have recently got rid of their manager - Tom Nordlie, and have appointed ex-Liverpool player Stig Inge Bjørnebye in his place.

I would be very wary of them in all fairness - and would make Start favourites to progress here.

If you get out of Kristiansand Stadion without conceding - then you may have a slight chance

I think Start have to be clear favourites to progress but euorpean football is all about importance of clear sheets at home & away goals.

You could even say that they are just Starting to play!
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

In fact, looking at all competitions, they have won their last 5 games - conceding only 3 & scoring 11

They would have won the title last season only to lose it by a point thanks to Fredrikstad beating them on the last day of the season (in fact Start had a goal incorrectly disallowed in the 84th minute for offside that led to Nordlie the Start coach doing his nut at the referee ).

They also would have taken the title even if they had lost and Odd Grenland had beaten Vålerenga the same day (FTR - that game finished 2-2)

start are most definetly favourites to win this leg .3 internatinals playing for them and lots of quality all over the pitch .Dont understand why people thought helsinki where physically stronger than Drogs .Seen both legs and drogs out muscled them and seem to have more left in the tank after normal time .If we can get out of there with 0 1 i will be chuffed .

On that note, maybe it would be best if Doolo can tell the Norwegian press that he expects Start to win both legs comfortably, which will hopefully find its way to the Start players who'll then underperform / expect to stroll it only to be ( hopefully ) stunned by Drogs.

no doubt Doolo has already told the Norwegian TV AM girl that Drogs don't "get the credit we deserve in Norway"

Doolin has the most bizarre victim complex of any manager in the el

I think it all exists in his own head

Best of luck to Drogs anyway .... they are a good team to come away with a clean sheet, hopefully they can nick one aswell. It'll be tough but all euro games are.
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Just checked - the price to watch the match live on the website (and to watch it for as many times as you want within a week) is 50 Kroner.

    Approximately €6.30

Anyone who wants help with registering with that site to watch the match - PM me.

I just checked it out of curiousity, this is what came up on the advert for the game
"Videoen er ikke tilgjengelig for avspilling i ditt land".
'No permission to broadcast to your country' - I presume.
