    Cork City -v- UCD

How do ye think we will get on on Friday night? Hopefully the curse of the old bogey team wont strike again. IMO, if we were to lose to UCD, all the hope and optimism that was in air after the Shels match would quickley dissappear.
I wonder will there be another big crowd? Hopefully all those at the last game were impressed and will come back again this time.

Im not going to give a prediction.......... im far too superstitious for that.

    C'mon City!

If the weather stays the same, I'd hope for another 3-4,000. As you say we HAVE to win to keep the momentum of the Shels game going.

    2-1 City

but I think if we beat UCD, it might be an even bigger result than the shels one.

    UCD view

I'm not very optimistic about this game. I don't think our defence has been great in the first two games although if Cork don't have any more ideas than last year, we'll be fine . I think we will score goals though. Robbie Doyle should do well (given that he won't be trying too hard, as he did against Bray) and Sean Finn has been good.
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

Yeah I agree, for me if we were to lose to UCD the $hels result would mean nothing. We need to get a good run under our belts to avoid slipping away if we experience a mid-season slump.

so what i'm saying is the shels result started that off, beating / no stuffing the eircom league champions (or are they the league of ireland champions.. i forget) has given the team the confidence to go on and hopefully beat ucd on friday

had they lost to $hels or even been hammered as alot of people predicted then the morale and crowds would have been low and it would have given the anti murph bridgade ammo to start up again..

with potentially the team and morale going into freefall

BUT we stopped the rot , we played like brazil, the new boys done good and morale on and off the pitch is now high, the place was buzzing against shels and this can continue now into ucd and for the rest of the season

    prediction 2-0

i wouldn't take any notice of schumi, the boy is pulling our leg. Remember last DEc when UCD played us off the pitch 2-0 with a 37 year old playing the game of his life.

I settle for a win and a big crowd. I'll be there

Yeah James, we have plenty of reasons to be confident. Morale must now be high and IMO it was very important for attendances that City played so well in front of a big crowd, most of them will come back now, if we had lost these people wouldnt be seen at the cross for another year.

hence why beating $hels was more NB then beating UCDgiven the sequencing of matches..that is

losing to shels and then beating ucd.. people would go ah well they lost the big test against shels.. and shure they only beat ucd (sry schumi )..

as oppose to: beat shels, morale high.. more likely to beat ucd then, and all rosey in the garden and relatively abuse free shed now that eanna's in germany

lets just say imo he's still on some pretty thin ice :P
but team doing well is an easy excuse to gloss over his inadequacies as a manager and the fact thats he's probably not human :P

*the way i look at it now, they must be some team, despite having murph in charge to have beaten $hels

Fùck off, we've got enough slagging over this for the past 7 months. You would have thought that Cork actually winning a game might have distracted people but obviously not

See ya in the Horseshoe before the game.

PJ Turners (used to be The Beer Garden) are sposnsoring the game and I think a lot of people (including the players) are going there after the game.
