    CV and Interview

    Howdy all,

Can I ask a quick question?

Basically, I made a slight miscalcualtion on an application form for a 2nd interview for a sales job. Something was written along the lines of
" i have completed my yearly target 5 months ahead of schedule"

this isn't coorect and I have the feeling it will be a topic for discussion

    should I
    a) try to blag it
    b) own up and say I screwed up

? thanks in advance for your help (appreciate also you not taking the pi55)
just as well it's not for an accountancy job

Just tell them it was your personal target you were on about !!

Only kidding, seriously .... are you able to blag it, how big is the lie? My only fear would be that they'll expect very high standards from you.

Is it an important job in your opinion?

Be honest. Everyone's a genius, according to their CV.

i would tend towards blagging it, say you met your targets , lets face it they are not going to hire you if you say you didnt ! make up for it by hitting the targets in your new job!!
just as long as they have no way of checking out you'll be ok....

any advice on following situation lads

did an interview and assessment centre - made it to final 4 candidates. That was last friday. What do yous reckon of following up on an interview like that i.e. do you think it seems pushy if you email to see if you've been given the job - to show your interest (even when you've been told they would email you with the outcome).

would be interesting to see what different ppl think.

First of all, did they give you time frame as to when a decision is going to be made? If not,I don't see what's wrong with being proactive. Of course, a lot depends on how you go about asking or who you ask. I used to make a point of talking to the secretary/receptionist before and after interviews. That was my angle for a follow-up call. If you do decide to do a follow-up, whether it is via e-mail or phone, be enthusiastic without coming across as desperate. It may set you apart from the other canidates.

    Either way, good luck.

The fact that you have had to go through an assesment centre and interview suggests their interview pricess could be rigid and potentially lengthy. There is no harm in contacting them IMO, but I always think its better to phone really, as the tone etc of an email could be misinterpreted.
Also it shows you are keen. Its sometimes easier if you go through an agency. The client used to phone us as soon as the interview was over so you could let the candidate know one way or another without all the waiting around.

    Good Luck with it all

good points - inclined to agree with yous!

was told the decision would be comunicated this week - could be wednesday i was told. All my dealings were with HR manger - (he did all the assessment etc) - he stressed that he would be very busy this week.

Still i would hate to think that i wouldnt get job because i didnt show enthusiasm and follow up!! I think i will give until end of business today and then send a mail.

cheers anyways for advice strangeirish and babysis
