    Fundraising

    Well,

Running a football club these days isnt cheap or easy.

Anybody out there want to share their secrets of success of what their clubs do, how much effort does it take and what the return on that effort is?

Be that financial, sponsorship, man power etc.

Its not a huge club by any stretch, 3 senior teams and some schoolboys teams.

    Suggestions welcome.

    Suggestions so far

    1. Quiz Night
    2. Race Night
    3. Sponsored Walk
    4. Club Lotto
    5. Golf Classic - High Effort, High Return
    6. Golden Goal

Very small club here. 1 senior team in 1st year. Country area. We found that all fund raising is better if it is done in conjunction with an active pub owner/tenant. The pub will push for you. We have raised money with a race night 3k plus and with quiz nights (poorly supported by team) roughly 1K per night.

Sponsored walk for the Kids is one that we've used for the last few years and it never fails to bring in a lot of support as the kids ask all and sundry to sponsor them.Already mentioned race-night another good money spinner.

GOLF classic is hard to sell but if successful is very lucrative for the Club.

Club lotto is a common one. Good jackpots = high sales!! If pushed right, you can make serious bobs.

Thats the thing though, isnt it. You need serious weight behind an initiative such as a lotto.

we've ran a day out at the horse racing-- raised £3000

Held an auction in local hotel during dinner dance etc--raised £10,000

Night out at a Greyhound track with each race sponsored and each dog sponsored. + meal etc. ---- raised £5,000.

why not charge €2 per kid/person every training session, and also €4 every football game home games it pays the ref and away games it helps with the running. depending on how many in the club it should add up to a nice figurew to help the running of your club

Do all this anyway. You dont have much change left over after referee and gear fees are paid.

    Other ideas:

    A local 5 a side tournament.
Get the local kids to have a football competition on the Playstation and charge them an entry fee.
    A 100 club.
    Bingo.
    Match sponsorship.
    Pitchside advertising.
    Church gate collection.
    Flag day.
    Sponsored fancy dress pram race.
    Plastic duck race.
Guess the score or time of first goal for live televised games.
    Head shaves/body waxes.
    24 hour fast.
Soccer camps (if you had the manpower with badges).
Never play leapfrog with a unicorn!!

Have to say our club lotto has been the main reason we have our grounds.... As you pointed out though you really have to have the right people behind it, its a lot of work to keep it going.

Another thing we do is during the summer we run a parish 7-a-side competiton. The final is held after a field-day with loads of events (penalty shoot outs, rugby kicks, bouncy castle, face painting etc etc), get the kids in and the parents have to come too.... Helps run the club for the year.

We run charity events every year, an auction is always pretty good. We've done a few with the 'main event' being a signed replica shirt. Always a good one if you can get your hands on someone famous....

Just thought of another one, Guiness run nights in your local where they give you €2 for every person you bring and give them 2 free pints each. Run it over 3-4 nights. Could make a few hundred quid and get a few free pints into the bargain. That was last year anyway I presume it's stll going.....

just sorting things out for my team at the moment.
looking like about 2.5k to cover all costs for the season (league fees, club membership, new kit, insurance etc)
Getting all the lads to pay 70 quid up front and hoping to get some replies from loads of begging letters sent to local business'....

We sell football prediction coupons for Pats.
They cost 2 euro and we keep 1 euro from every coupon we sell.
Averaged about 65 a week last season

Have done race nites and a "Who wants to be a Thousand-aire" nite in the past but these are mainly done by the whole club rather than just our team.

a members draw with about 250 to 300 or even 400-500 in it if you can.
each member (made up of players, friends and family, local people etc) pays 10 euro direct debit each month. Then do a draw and the winner gets however much you want to give them. if you have 300 then that is 3 grand in and pay out maybe 1 grand leaves with a nice 2 grand profit for just setting this up early doors and then sitting back and doing a draw once a month (guarenteed winner) and notifying everybody of the winner. easy money once it gets going !!
