Even with "Tom & Ando" surely he should be signing a decent CM anyway...
I hope he doesn't though, I love seeing MU struggle!!

Giggs has been rotten today. Carrick playing well, unfortunately for Gibson.

    Darron Gibson the History Maker

Gibson donated some paraphernalia to the Tower Museum in Derry for an upcoming exhibition on Ulster's sporting heroes.

Little did I know what was to greet me upon my return.

1 x Premier League winners’ medal
1 x FIFA Club World Cup medal
    2 x Carling Cup medals

Needless to say, shivers tingled down my spine.
I'll be completely honest. On first reading, I thought that was sarcasm.

Aye, sure it's just a Premier League medal. You get to handle one of those everyday.

I didn't mean to come across as dismissive of a Premier League winner's medal if that's how it was interpreted. An impressive achievement it certainly is. It's just that there are also 352 medals identical to Darron's out there - Ronnie Wallwork and Luke Chadwick (legends?) have ones too, whilst numerous players have more than four of five to themselves; some as many as ten or twelve (that'd be closer to sending shivers down my spine) - and it would be somewhat disingenuous to imply his role was a pivotal one in United's league win last season. I was just picking up on what I saw to be a lot of overblown hyperbole in the piece as I'm not so sure his "haul of incredible medals" would justify this apparent "legendary status", even in Derry. It would be disappointing in the extreme if the lad rested on such laurels. He still has a lot to do in the world of football.

I've only started watching MU v CP at the start of the second half and I can honestly say I could watch Gibson all night long the way he's playing, just stroking the ball about and at times picking long crisp passes straight to feet. He has the same laid back swagger that Xavi Alonso has, but about as much bite in the tackle as my mum. The second half is only 10 mins old mind you.

He's playing well. Lovely on the ball. When he plays like this all he is missing from his game is putting in a few tackles. Really looks like a younger paul scholes at the moment though. Scannell was playing very well also until he went off injured. McCarthy putting in a steady shift. Really should be back in consideration.

Been one of the better performers for United tonight defiantly...keeping it simple and not doing much if anything wrong at all.

Really frustrating to watch at times though. I've counted at least 5 incidents where CP were on the break and he could have easily chased down the runner. I wonder will that **** off fergie?

Just saw Darren Ambrose's goal. What a strike. He's eligible for us too, I believe.

Any Irish blood in Stuart O'Keefe?

Not a bad effort from Gibson there to win a corner.

Another sweet strike from Gibson, on the volley this time. Just goes wide. United 2-1 down here in extra time.

If United lose this, wont help DG's chances of getting some action in the near future.

Nope, he didn't have it in the final third. Almost all of Uniteds attacks had Gibson feeding from the center but bar maybe once he didn't send in the crucial pass. Saying that along with Smalling and Valencia he was the best player.

United lose 2-1. United lacking imagination in a very desperate finish with eleven Palace players behind the ball.

He looked one-paced and, frankly, unfit as the game went on. rebelmusic is right that he didn't have it in the final third but he was also playing deepest of their midfielders for the most part, and later in the game there was no room in the final third.

He looks like he plays every game as a 2-touch exercise game and he's quite good at it. He thinks ahead very well but still looks like he's afraid to take a chance. He needs to start thinking he's the man, not the newbie. He can't hide behind that anymore. Can he be "the man"? For Ireland, yes - if he starts thinking he is.

He'll be needing a visit to Wayne Rooney's hair transplant clinic by the time he's 30. Serious bald spot emerging.

Was it just me or was Gibson playing far too deep? He was the one orchestrating things but he needed to have the courage to do it nearer the box. Guys like Pogba and Morrison are talented but they needed the more experienced player to take more responsibility.

That said, Ferguson botched it by not selecting a player more senior than Gibson, considering it was his first game of the season.
