Ferguson is not an idiot. To buy Huddlestone would be idiotic. Wont happen. People need to keep in mind Gibsons age. Fletcher is 3 years older. 3 years ago many united fans were dismissing Fletcher and it took him quite a while to settle. IMO Gibson looks better at this age than Fletcher. Few central midfielders have made their stamp at top teams before the age of 24, with the exception of obviously talented players like Fabreags, keane and Gerrard

I'm shocked Fletcher is only 26. It seems like he's been around forever.

Need I remind you that Alex Ferguson just bought a player he'd never even seen play for seven million pounds? Sixteen million is nothing to him for a player like Tom Huddlestone.

People have been saying he's losing his marbles for years, but I think this might just be the evidence needed to back the claim up.

Starting tonight for United. This is the type of game where you would like to see him impose himself on the game.

Robbie had better watch his back now and perk his game up a bit after that Gibson goal

He was OK. Was in an advanced midfield role but Scunthorpe bossed the game for long periods. He turned his back on the shooter for the first goal.

That shot never would have got past a UCD super league goalkeeper.

In the same game, Nolan played well at left back and kept the UTD keeper busy.

Interesting article on Gibson on the Man U site:

"Getting picked for the Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich – and scoring – was a big boost so from there I never thought about going out on loan this season. This is where I want to play my football for the rest of my career.”

yes but darron scoring a goal against bayern doesn't mask or hide even make up for strolling around for the rest of the game. He comes across as someone who might not take criticism too well, or more importantly take it on board, especially when its constructive....a lot of what is being said may be true about the lad.

Darron doesn't stroll around. He plays with a swagger...

True or not, he remains a Manchester United player. So he must be listening to and taking on board criticism from somebody.

After the turn around in form from Berbatov this season Im not gonna write off too quickly any player that Ferguson has faith with in future. As long as he continues to get picked for United I will believe that Gibson will develop into a top midfielder. He has all the tools
