Great move by Giggs to set it up. Really nice shot from Gibson though.

    Did anyone just see MOTD?

They profiled Scholes and Gibson alongside each other - "the master and the apprentice." Over-egging it somewhat but................fingers crossed!

He is certainly showing promise, I wonder how our central midfield will look in a year or so with him, Whelan and Andrews all under 30.

His strikes to games started rate is excellent, a striker would be proud of it.

Neither Whelan not Andrews started on Saturday. Whelan is injured I think but Andrews was on the bench. I wouldn't get too excited yet.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Did not see the games but saw the goals From what I heard he was poor enough during the weekend, still not emposing himself on teh game. Is he like a young frank lampard or a david platt, who does not get himself in the game but can score a goal from midfield. Stephen Manchester was like that when he played for us also.

Gibson has some shot on him though.

It's not just that the lad can score goals,
2 of the strikes were top class and the bottom corner one was merely perfectly executed.
That makes him a very interesting prospect.
The rest of his game can develop in competitive games.

Today's Observer said he was impressive throughout.

MOTD punters also showed his three complete mis-hits. Great goal, though.

    Watched the game.

    Gibson played ok.
He is so similar to Frank Lampard in the way he plays the game.
Slick 5 -10 yard passes and always close by the man in possesion.
    Kept the ball moving well.
His strike was excellent but he had 3-4 other shots that werent even close.
It seems like he was told shoot on sight and it was only a matter of time time till united scored from distance.

What I'd love to see him do is make timed runs into the box a bit better and a bit more.
I think he could develope into a great player. I hope Ferguson gives him a another run out against Wolfsburg. See if he can maintain his current form.

    How do you interpret that?
    1/4 justified his presence?
A very thin line between him hitting a spectacular stunning strike and making a howler?
He would need to do more as a CM just in case he has a 4/4 miss hit strike rate?

The fact every bloody defender is injured for United can only be good news for Gibson. Carrick, and possibly Fletcher, will be starting the next couple of games in defence so Darron might get a good run in the team

Exciting time for gibson, a wonder what a bit of confidence can do for a player.

I am still not convinced by his overall contribution to matches for a central midfielder. With Giggs and Scholes still there, he doesnt have half as much pressure on his shoulders to get on the ball and play it around...good shot on him, but other then that I still need to see more.

Also, he needs to move away from United or else he'll become the next Liam Miller if he's not careful. Fortunate there are loads of injuries there at the moment

He could move and become the next Michael Stewart or stay and become the next Darren Fletcher. Or heck, he could move and become the next Robbie Savage. It's just not that simple.

he's already had more success in a United shirt than Liam Miller so not sure of the comparison there HNT.
