Police were called and the 27-year-old former Man Utd midfielder, paid £50,000 a week, was arrested after failing a breath test.

It is understood the cyclist sustained minor injuries.
Net good at all, especially with him hitting a cyclist.

Gibson's pleaded guilty to hitting a cyclist while drink-driving then driving off. Report says he'll be sentenced later.

Darron was just demonstrating another side to his accident proneness.
And of all the bikes he crushes into smithereens, it just happens to be one of the most expensive road bikes in the universe.

He might have timed it well with the injury to Besic on Saturday. That said, they're not likely to stray too far from the team that ended up doing the business against Chelsea.

I wouldn't consider him for the next 2 games, no way he'll be match fit.

He has had surgery on his abductor muscle, which was continually causing him the groin trouble. (Was it that the tissue would swell or something after a few weeks of sustained activity until it would become so inflamed that it leave him in pain and unable to play? Or was there an repeated abnormal growth/swelling on a nearby bone or something? I recall the matter being explained along those lines but can't remember the specifics; maybe someone can clarify...) That was the root of the recurring problem anyway, as far as I know, and he had originally been scheduled to have that operation when Moyes was in charge, but when Martinez took over then, it didn't seem to happen for some reason. Hopefully, now that it's sorted, he can actually get a good stretch of playing time now without any injury problems arising.

Friend of a friend had to have his hip replaced recently after an injury sustained playing touch rugby, think he's about 33-34. He's been told he can't even go jogging any more. Replacements have a 20-30 year lifespan depending on wear and tear, so he'll have to have his replacement replaced probably before he retires.

It was Moyes who reported Gibson as having an abnormal growth in the area, I think it was referred to as a 'calcified mass'. I believe that this would cause the muscle to weaken and result in recurring injuries to the area. I don't believe he had had any surgeries to the area before this recent one, so hopefully this surgery will be beneficial with regard to these particular injuries.

28 next month. Hopefully a few years with no major injuries are on the horizon. Though at this stage maybe that is beyond even being a fool's hope...

I'd say so. I know of someone who is a high ranking karate man and who has had a hip replacement. If there's any activity that needs good hip movement it's karate.

Just a word from Martinez on Gibson: http://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2015/...t-for-ireland/

I'm guessing he'll be called into the provisional squad at least, in spite of the time out.
