When you start talking like that at 2 o'clock in the morning, it means you're getting worried.
With Limerick losing, yet again tonight the stats suggest that we're likely to finish in the top 2 with Rovers.
In the last 3 seasons none of the teams who won the Division were the top scorers in the division. The last time the champions were top scorers in Divsion 1 was Dundalk in 2001.
In the last 2 seasons the team with the best defence has won the division.
Obviously teams who lose the fewest games do best. The top 4 all had the same amount of wins but Sligo had 8 fewer defeats (i.e. 8 more draws) so finished 8 points ahead of Kilkenny!
This season's table looks like this after tonight:
Limerick FC 16 10 0 6 19 17 30
Shamrock R 15 8 5 2 19 4 29
Cobh Rmbls 17 7 5 5 26 17 26
Athlone Tn 17 7 5 5 12 13 26
Dundalk 17 8 1 8 25 20 25
Galway Utd 16 5 9 2 19 11 24
Finn Harps 17 5 7 5 26 22 22
Rovers have lost 2 and conceded only 4 goals in 15 games. United have lost only 2 out of 16 and have the next best defence at 11.
United, Rovers and Limerick have all scored 19 goals but they've conceded 17 more than United and Rovers combined.
Only Dundalk in the top 7 have lost more games than Limerick.
Athlone have only conceded 13 and had a better defence than us before they lost during the week.
Going on this it could be Rovers, United, Athlone top 3 at the end of the season!
For the last 5 weeks there have been "must win games" but there are still 20 games to go for us this season, it's not even halfway through. If we only lose 2 more games this season we will definitely be in the top 2.
Hoping for the best tomorrow!
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.
sligoman, you obviously dont know JC !!
great results this weekend, 4 points now between the top 6 teams. A few more wins and it should see us keep climbing towards justifing our place in the premiership
great results over the week just gone for us
looking at the stats above it seems very hopeful indeed - as we played badly so did the other teams and then when we win everyone else seems to take points off each other
firstly we are given a chance again to take this league by the scruff of the neck and secondly is the openess of this league a reflection of the quality in it, yet again - not much!
more water!
yet another great weekend of results which now leaves us 2nd just one point behind Rovers.
If we win our next 2 games now against Limerick and Rovers it would put us at the top of the table!!!
