    McAteer vs the Dutch Video?

On September 1st 2001, I was not much of an Irish fan. That wasnt much of a time to be a fan of anything in America. I had no way to follow the team or watch the games. So, I didnt see this goal. Recently, I was able to see it (sort of) in terrible quality off of the RTE website. Anyone know where I can see it?

Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

I have it on dvd at home...might try to take that piece out of it and put it on youtube when I get some spare time. Also there are a few different pictures take from diferrent angles of that shot and the various stages of the ball entering the net. The best thing about all the photo's is the look on the faces of the people in the crowd. Some dont know the ball is in or going to go in, some do and some arent sure. Its pure brilliant.

I was East Upper, towards the north end of the ground. My initial reaction was "you ****, you've ballooned it over!"

That must be the fondest memory I have of the Irish football team as an adult. I watched Italia 90 and USA 94 but was probably a bit too young to appreciate it (I didn't know much about the players, formations, management, etc). I don't think I'll ever forget that one, watched it at 10am in a New York pub. The years 1994-2001 are a bit of a football blur, really.

Me too, I was in the pub watching on Sky drinking a pint of guinness, though.
I was thinking "Don't volley it you tw**, you will put it in row Z".

    Fortunately I was wrong

I still remember Finnan's sweet assed pass to set up the goal. Was online within 2 hours of the match booking my tickets to Japan.
There is no such thing as a miracle cure, a free lunch or a humble opinion.

I am sure it would be much appreciated if you did.
I think it would be nice if this site had some sort of 'video section'
where you could upload related clips. Not sure about the technical side
    of it though.

I had extended highlights of this match from Dutch TV, complete with an interview with a very sour Louis van Gaal, on video CD. Unfortunately I can't find the CD at the moment.

Best moment was when Ruud ran into Given and the commentator starts shouting "Penalty! Penalty! Penalty!"
