    Barca match Real

Barcelona have tied up the dual signing of Juventus defenders Lilian Thuram and Gianluca Zambrotta.

Following Juventus' relegation from Serie A, the scandal-hit Italian giants have seen their squad become a target for Europe's top clubs. More

They were excellent last year, even stronger now ! 2 fantastic signings.

Thuram while still a good player is not better than Marquez or Puyol so he could be a squad player of more of a right back there. Zambrotta is a great player though and will improve Barca defensively.

Absolutely, think Thuram might be still a better centre half than Puyol but they're not going to drop him. Might push Marquez into midfield though.

Zambrotta, for me, is the best full back in the world

Hadn't realised this was confirmed [fcbarcelona.com], though it's been rumoured for days.

Two excellent signings for Barca. Zambrotta in particular is quite confortable with no left winger in front of him (Juve often played that way in previous seasons), and should improve the team no end.

That's those two, Mutu, Cannavaro and Emerson gone. I've only seen Del Piero and Buffon commit themselves to Juve. That leaves players like Vieira, Camoranesi, Ibrahimovich and Trezeguet all available at reasonable prices. Should make for an interesting summer at any rate.

I think so, but I'm not certain. Some of the guys who are gone said they'd stay not terribly long ago either. Zambrotta in particular comes to mind.

They'll play him most of the time. Swap Messi for Guily in your team nad I'd agree with it

La Liga will be very interesting this season.

Barca were strong last season and look stronger this season, still think they could do with buying another out and out striker to replace Larsson. Is there another African Cup of Nations this year ? If so they will miss Etoo a lot around January.

Real Madrid should be much better now they've got Capello. He is a world class coach, and wont be afraid to chop and change the team if needed. If Raul and Ronaldo dont improve then he'll have no qualms about dropping them. Canavarro and Emerson will improve them as a team, and Capello will know how to get the best out of Cassano.

Valencia are worth a shout too.

Capello mightn't have that much say on the team. Remember this is Real Madrid we're talking about.

Oh and there's no African Cup of Nations this season

Id say Capello is a strong personality and knows the goings on in Madrid well enough.
If the board start interfaring,he will have no trouble in telling them where to stick their job.
Dont rate Emerson much but Capello sees him as a good squad member so wont argue with such a respected manager.

At least Cannavaro will sure up the defence that has been their Achilles heel for the past few seasons.

I think people are forgetting........Barca signed Gudjohnson from Chelsea as a replacement for Larrson. Another great buy!!!!!!!!

Barca have some team now and have a great chance of retaining there Euopean Cup.

They got Eidur Gudjohnsen from Chelsea, and for Cheaper than what Real Paid for Ruud. Gudjohnsen is a class act.
