Good to see a friendly is more important than the Eircom League. Its a disgrace and i hope they have lumps kicked out of them for the rest of the season.
No let-up in Shels’ hectic schedule
Shelbourne will ask Bray Wanderers to accommodate yet another change in the date of the clubs’ on-off eircom league fixture.
The new season may be less than a week old, but a fixtures backlog is already growing at Tolka Park and the champions are now trying to have their clash with the Seagulls moved for a SECOND time.
The problem arises due to Shels’ forthcoming lucrative “pre-season” friendly against Manchester United at Tolka on July 20.
Shelbourne had already arranged to have the Bray game switched to the Sunday (July 21) but will now seek another change as the glamour friendly takes place only 24 hours earlier.
The Shelbourne/Bray game was originally fixed for the Friday (on the 19th) but Wanderers had agreed to facilitate the Reds as they were only arriving home from their Champions League meeting with Hibernian in Malta that evening.
They will now move to have the match moved back to an even later date.

Friendlies are good revenue source especially at 20-30 euro a ticket hopefully that story is just speculation.
There is no way the league or Bray should allow $hel$ to change the league fixture again!
If your club had a friendly against Man Utd lined up but one of the other eL clubs wouldn't move a match to accomodate -would that not irritate you? eL clubs need all the money they can get!
So whats more important - the integrity of the league, or the €€€€€ in front of Oily's eyes...... $h€l$ should be deducted points for even asking......
If you attack me with stupidity, I'll be forced to defend myself with sarcasm.
No. Whoever aranged the friendly for the day before a league game would irritate me.Originally posted by Shelsman

We're not arrogant, we're just better.
Every other football fan in the world criticises their own team/club so why are the few $hel$ faithful unable to break from the Ollie Byrne mantra for even this one.
Typically $hel$ now try to blame Bray!!!!!
Because Ollie Byrne would hunt them down like dogs?Originally posted by pete

don't worry, they couldn't hit an elephant at this dis......
Its just another in a long line of insults to the eircom league, a friendly (no matter how lucrative) should never take precidence over a league match.Originally posted by Shelsman

Do you honestly believe that if the shoe were on the other foot, Man U would rearrange a league match to play a friendly against $hel$.
Why should the el always play second fiddle?
Ollie Byrne is a eejit ! But I don't see the problem in moving any match foward or backward a day unless it is going to cause a substantial problem for the other team or fans.Originally posted by pete

Can't disagree with you there.Originally posted by Shelsman

Ollie however is passionate about his club which he can't be faulted for, its just the league 7 other clubs let him get away with too much.
Do you not think it makes the league look a bit Mickey Mouse if one of the favourites for the title think it's more important to play a friendly than a league game?Originally posted by Shelsman

As for asking seeing as Rovers were denied a change when they asked based on security reasons what chance did Shels have?
Does Ollie Byrne think he can do what he likes?

I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"
It's a pretty reasonable assumption.....Originally posted by JC_GUFC
