    its this friday conor,

not friday week,i heard on radio tonight that we should have had a peno and barry had a shot well saved, murphs goal came from a volley, also we dominated for large parts,a win is a win i suppose, limerick are crashing and burning at the mo so going into next week we are the form team and they are on a disastrous run,you just know then that lim will sneak it 1-0 ,i hope not though.

We also had a peno that not given and had a few good chances so granted u did have the majority of the play but it was by no means a walk over for ya.

I told one of your subs after the game that you were top of the league and the lim-kildare result....the smile on his face was great! He went running off to tell the rest of the squad! Made me feel a little better....we couldnt win but I was at least able to make one persons nite!

Oh and Conor H ur some wee pup not crediting me for keeping u updated! U and your 5-0 prediction!

    from rte.ie

Galway United marched continued their climb up the Division One league table outplaying Monaghan United at Century Homes Park for a 1-0 win.

However, Tony Cousins' men made life difficult for themselves by
frittering away a succession of goal chances.

Alan Murphy fired home a sweet first-time volley from the perimeter of the box after six minutes to give Galway the dream start.

Fran Carter should have doubled the lead but his close-range drive was deflected over the bar. Then Monaghan keeper Tadgh Murphy did well to keep out Ronan Frawley's powerful header.

Galway relented their early pressure but Monaghan, profoundly
deficient in creativity, failed to make a first-half chance of note.

Murphy executed another great save to deny Carter in the 57th minute. But the Monaghan keeper blundered badly a minute later, presenting Barry Moran with an open goal opportunity that the Galway striker fluffed badly.

Monaghan's luck held when Frawley's 65th minute volley came back off the underside of the bar with Murphy beaten.

Galway's relentless pursuit of a second goal allowed Monaghan a few late counter-attack chances but David Lee failed to take advantage.

With four minutes remaining Galway substitute Dave O'Dowd struck his drive into the side-netting.

And Galway endured an added time scare when Monaghan centre-forward Lee had a header cleared off the line by Frawley.

Sounds like they are really beginning to believe in themselves, and as Tony said in an interview with www.galwayunitedfc.ie they are starting to play the football on the ground and is showing up now in our results.

My bet at the start of the season where I put E50 on us at 12/1 to win the league is starting to look really good. Havent checked PP lately but around 3 weeks ago we were out near 20/1 to win! what are we now JC ?

    United now 3/1 second favourites.

My 32/1 double of United & Shels to win the Divisions is looking very good now too!
I phoned the speaking clock to hear a voice speak, it said - "At the tone you will be very much alone"

We were by far the better team. Super strike by Slab. Being dropped seems to have reformed him. Barry missed a sitter in the second half and Frannie hit the bar. They had one chance - a header cleared off the line late on.
I was about the only United fan there, strange experience. Good hospitality in the bar afterwards and a few nice pints of Guinness.

Further to my previous post: the pitch was about the worst advertisement possible for summer football.
Secondly, we've some black dude from the USA on trial. He was in the stand last night with a United tracksuit on him beside Philip Reilly and the lads.
Billy was our best player (again).

Actually 2 chances....David Lee was clear with only the goalie to beat but just managed to put it wide.
