Enough about Friday night - we have bigger fish to fry

Like Dundalk this evening and Athlone on Friday. Time to renew other long-standing football rivalries.

Friday's win and Cobh's loss meant it was a great weekend. I was impressed with the side on Friday night - Robbie seems back to his top form, he terrorised the two Rovers centre halves. Colm Heffernan went on a couple of runs and was unlucky not to score. Rose is turning out a fine player and a great finish on Friday. Tommy has the holding role in midfield down now. Lester is a fine footballer and is just the type of creative player we've needed. The back five looked solid enough. I think Waters needs to up his game - he was very reluctant (unable) to take on the full back last week and is also liable to deliver a poor corner.

The only potential problem is the lack of depth in the squad. I hope these fellas are wrapped in cotton wool between games.

What has been most impressive in recent weeks is the way the lads have bounced back from the two defeats after the break. It seems that a settled side is working very well - the players are comfortable playing together now. Forecast for tonight? I think the number of games being played might catch up with us, but we are still mean at the back - 0-0.

Looks good. Once it is filled up should be great.

Only thing (and it is small) is that pics of managers/coaches etc mixed up with players. That fella Billy Barrett looks like a very old u-21! Still, small issue. Not before time but great to have it.

The Oriel fish fried you 3-1.

Count your blessings you're home to Athlone this weekend. That should be the cure for your dose of "Rovers Flu".

If only all illnesses assured us of two wins in a week.

I just wish we could play Rovers twice a week every week. But it wouldn't be much of a challenge then.

Nah, you can't play us at home permanently. You still have to visit us twice, and you haven't beaten us in Dublin since mid-December 1992.

Yeah, and we wouldn't have an ounce of rubble left either.

No mention of just league games there is there??

Seeing as since then we didn't have too many top flight seasons,it would be hard to play ye in the league.....How long is it now since Rovers beat us...in all competitions???

It's definitely not since they were a big club anyway.

We have long memories. In case you hadn't noticed, we still "brag" about winning 4 leagues in a row, and that was 20 years ago. Then there is the 6 in a row cup wins in the 60's, 40 years ago, and then there is the '56 cup comeback, and that was 50 years ago. By comparison, 9.5 years is a very short time in our book.

The memories of being relegated by Home Farm must be remarkably fresh in your minds then...........

It's in the memory alright, and you won't hear the end of it, until the roles are reversed. Which should be very soon.
