No, teams only gain their own coefficient points by getting 'results' in the 'proper' rounds of the competition. The qualifying round only counts towards the country's coefficient. Any club which qualifies for Europe for the first time in 5 seasons automatically receives the country's coefficient.

That said by getting a draw last night Ireland's coefficient goes up so Cork's does also. Had Cork got a draw in one of the legs against Slavia Prague last season as well as Ireland's coefficient going up by 0.333 points, Cork's would have also increased by 1 and would have been seeded instead of the Macedonians.

I think next thursday is a big day as will know by then what countries have all their teams knocked out giving the ranking list a clearer picture.

Drogs & Derry have a great chance as a few nice pickings in the 2nd qualifying round northern section meaning more ranking points on offer.

Sorry Viking - but I can 100% guarantee you that you are worng here. I can't be arsed to go into explaining the whole story, as I've done it about 3 previous times on here already (once earlier this year), so you'll just have to take my word for it.

Also - UEFA didn't ban anyone from playing in the Welsh Cup, as that's a purely internal matter.

How can I be 100% sure that I'm right ? Because I was told the story direct from the mouth of Alun Evans - Welsh League Chairman, former FAW President, and former UEFA Board member. You may think you know more about Welsh football than him, but with no disrespect I seriously doubt you do....

Back to topic - we need both Derry and Drogheda to get results and hopefully one of them to draw Gretna. Save the big sides for the group stages.

Either side should take Gretna and then have a great chance of getting a club coefficient in the 1st round proper. This is absolutely huge. It effectively guarantees 5 years of seeding for the club. It also helps the national coefficient as points are doubled in that round. In reality no chance yet against the likes of Newcastle.

Its not likely both Derry and Drogheda will progress.
I's say both will get very tough games.

Last weekend both HJK and IFK beat the respective league leaders in their leagues away from home.
Both Irish teams are new to europe and you cant let up for the 180 mins if you want to progress. I hope the players and management of Drogheda and Derry dont take it as a given that they have any right to progress.

Its still only half time and the seeded team would still be the bookies favourite Id imagine.

After last night game (i taught Cork gave them too much respect and didn't attack them more) Can Drogheda and Derry do it tonight and get into the 2nd q Round of UEFA Cup?

I wouldn't say that. Even 2 draws from 5 games will yield 1 point

    Updated table here:

    http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/...crank2007.html

    We're officially better than Liechtenstein

Hopefully we can overtake the Macedonia's before the season is out - with a favourable draw for the 2 teams tomorrow we could even more into the top 35 above Georgia.

Apart from Newcastle, nobody in there would be too impossible.

Having said that they might fancy a Newcastle side in Lansdowne Road with Duff ?
Drogheda are giving up home advantage and have played there before ?? Then again so has duff
