here... were in the totally meaningless competition btw !!! I would rather concentrate on more important things like winning the EL so we can play champions league football next season.
1.833 is the bench mark to be fair
What will the points tally rise to if derry and drogheda go through and where will it leave us on the list?

We were 0.833 before tonight from 3 games.Originally Posted by nshoop
Add 0.5 for Cork tonight. Say Derry draw, and Drogheda win next week, that's
0.5+0.5+1= 2
2+0.833= 2.833
2.833/3= 0.944
I think that's right anyway.
Looks right,thanksOriginally Posted by Red&White

Well that is us onto 1.000 so far this year.
Even if Derry and Drogheda both won, we would still only be on 1.666 ...
I think 1.833 is going to be very hard to reach...

We will need six points to better our 5.5 last year. So far we have 3 points from 4 matches, with another 4 to go, though Cork will be playing much stronger opposition and a good chance of another 4 depending on whether or not Derry and Drogs get through.
We should be aiming to improve our co-efficient each year, i.e. getting more than we did 4 years ago as the co-efficients are calculated over a 5 year period. We got 0.5 points 4 years ago, which equals 0.166 co-efficient points, so seeing that we already have 2 co-efficient points this year we have improved our overall co-efficient and more than likely our country ranking.
Me too - worring more about statistics , instead of enjoying the game (two classy goals & a bagfull of top class saves by Devine - well worth the licence fee!)Originally Posted by Red&White

There's more muppetry in this thread than anywhere else on foot.ie.
Cork had a great result tonight, they are through to the next round. Thats the bottom line. They were in much more danger of not going through than winning the bloody game, particularly after they conceded.
Likewise, give me a draw against IFK and Drogs a scoreless draw against HJK and I guarantee we'll both bite your hands off.
Yet again the coefficient-obsessive-compulsives on this site get stuck admiring the trees and can't see they're in a fecking forest..........
Actually we should be aiming to get more than we did 5 years ago and I think it may have been worse than the 0.166 I mentioned previously.Originally Posted by DmanDmythDledge
That's wrong. The 0.833 before tonight was already divided by three. If Derry draw and Drogheda win it would be:Originally Posted by Red&White

Ah right, fair enough, sonds better.
Don't forget, the CL may be three qualifying rounds but UEFA only has two. IF Derry were to get through against Gothenburg, AND win the next tie, they would be gathering double points in the first round proper. Long way in the distance, but just reminding people.
some clarification please,anybody?maybe a link?

I reckon we can get up to 33rd place for 2008, so maybe we should be expecting more of a jump come 2009, especially considering EL clubs in the CL will have easier first round ties due to seeding and more chance of 2 points rather than 1.5 this year while unseeded.Originally Posted by Gareth
Totally agree, getting through to the next round is FAR more important than the coefficient. But, the rankings can make things easier for Irish teams in future years - giving better chances of MORE Euro-games - thats why we care about them too.Originally Posted by OneRedArmy
